Cape Cod?s quintessential luxury seaside resort has been a renowned and beloved Cape Cod landmark since 1914. With one-quarter mile of the most spectacular private beach on Cape Cod, this grand oceanfront resort would be impossible to recreate today. The historic Main Inn offers luxuriously appointed guestrooms and private suites. Recently constructed cottages with luxurious bathrooms are nestled throughout the property most of which have balconies, decks or terraces with views of the Atlantic Ocean. The new spa suites, designed to facilitate in room treatments, provide an adults only sanctuary with easy access to the adjacent Spa and outdoor relaxation pool.

This premiere hotel on Cape Cod is lovely, however... we checked out with the drawers full of clothes, called them when the error was discovered (the same day) and got the royal run around. Bottom line, they pretty much accused me of lying or, best case, being so inept that I couldn't find the clothes in my suitcase. The Housekeeping Manager wouldn't consider that her staff may have lifted them, threw them out... who knows. She did look into to it and mentioned that two of her staff were in the room after we left and "the drawers are always checked". After about a dozen phone calls it was pretty much "your problem, we are not libel". Which is true, it was my error in leaving the clothing - all high end - Chico's, hand-painted, artisan items, 1/2 of two suits, etc. - not easily or inexpensively replaced. After paying a small fortune to stay there, tipping the maid, etc., perhaps the guest should be treated with respect. Maybe a call or letter from a front end manager? Or "so sorry your stay was compromised by this problem", maybe "we hope you'll come back, here's a voucher for a cup of coffee", something. The only option we were offered was to call the police - ridiculous. I should have followed my initial thoughts when we booked - the reservationist was snooty, as was the desk clerk who checked us in and it kept going, with few exceptions. The food was very good, the service in the bar/pub was inattentive and disinterested. All in all, a bad experience with an indifferent organization. Methinks they are feeling a might smug and self-important. We will not return or recommend the hotel.
