Good
I surprised my husband for his birthday with a nights stay at the Charles St Inn. I knew he would appreciate all the authentic decorative details, the working fireplace and the air tub. There was wise and informative guidance for selecting a...

This picturesque Inn in the heart of old Boston was warm and inviting. The attention to detail regarding layout, furniture, accessories and services was impeccable. It was an elegant and quiet get away in the center of everything. A perfect Victorian period piece for the discreet and discerning.

We have stayed at this Inn 3 times, the latest being 6 weeks ago. It gets better each time. The housekeeping is near perfection, and the breakfasts are nearly a complete meal---much more than the usual B & B continental fare. Its location is at the heart of the city, with public transportation a mere block away. It's within walking distance of Boston Commons, Boston Garden, and the statehouse. Rates are within reason for the local market, and we've recommended it many times to potential visitors to the area. It's just a great place!!
The owners of this hotel have lovingly collected Victorian furniture and other pieces to add to the ambience of the turn-of-the-century building, but added all of the amenities that modern travelers want to encounter as they enter their room or suite. This hotel has free wifi for its guests, which is helpful since the 9 rooms are not generally speaking cheap! Breakfast is included in the form of an "expanded continental" - bagels, pastries, hard-boiled eggs, tea, but not cooked dishes. Conveniently located just north of the Boston Common and Public garden, near shopping, dining and Boston landmarks, but on a quietly commercial avenue with more independent than brand-name stores, calling to mind Parisian sidestreets.

Excellent
Where do I start... I am very picky. I am an interior designer and very critical of interiors. The spaces were nicely done, without 'trying too hard'. We felt like we were experiencing the history of Boston and what the inn signified. It is more...

The only thing that was nice in this place were the working fireplaces.
Have stayed in two different rooms. both dirty/dusty. Crusted something or other on linens. Hair on linens. Non-working thermostats. Non-working whirlpool (self-cleaning)tubs. Refrigerators crusted with spoiled cream. Leaking faucets causing water on tiled floor. No rollaway bed available as promised. Care for a rubber inflatable thing on floor? Proprietor never available for help. Breakfast passable. Should be closed down in my opinion.
