Located very close to Disney World's Maingate entrance, this hotel is set in 15 tropical acres of grounds. This is the largest Howard Johnson in the USA and is also associated with Disney, so it does provide free transportation to the main parks, although you may prefer to hire a car if you're staying here. The rooms here are comfortable and clean, some have been recently renovated and they also offer rooms with easy accessibility for wheelchair users. There's a covered, heated pool, as well as a jacuzzi and 2 outdoor pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, playground and games room. They also allow pets here for a fee of $25. The hotel serves breakfast and bar snacks in the evening and there's also an oriental buffet next door which is great for a quick meal. The staff are always helpful and polite and the maid service especially, help to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A good hotel to use as a base for seeing the theme parks.

This place was the pits - two story complex without elevators - had to drag suitcases up the stairs. Dinner was horrible. And to top it off, we found TICKS in our beds at midnight, causing us to have to move to another unit in a big hurry. When i re
I stayed here once in 2006 when it was a Howard Johnson, since it's had the name changed to Champions World Resort, everything else has changed with it! The rooms are clean, the staff is very helpful, and my husband and i had a wonderful time with t

The hotel staff was very rude and very misleading. We were told they have FREE shuttle to ALL of the parks but they did not. The only shuttle they offered was to Magic Kingdom so we had to pay a lot of extra money for cabs! Our room was very dirty!! There were things left from the last person that stayed there!! There was mildew in the shower!!! it was just NASTY!!!! The last night we were there we were told to be at the shuttle pick up at 10:30 so we got there at 10 just to be safe....We waited until 10:45 and we called the hotel and the staff(which was rude once again) told us the shuttle was late because of traffic.... so we wait abother 45 min and it still wasnt there and they told us to just get a cab because the shuttle was not coming and they would pay for it! So we were lied too and had to wait for NO reason! So we get the cab and it takes us to the wrong howard johnson...we get to the hotel and the staff tells us they will not pay because of the taxi driver...so the staff makes US call the cops and talk to them and does NOTHING!!!!!!! The staff didnt say sorry for not picking us up or anything!!!!! So we get into our room at 2 am!!!! The pool was small and very nasty!! Do not stay here!!! The staff was rude...The room was dirty....overall a HORRIBLE experience!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Believe me you do not want to stay at this hotel if you can call it that we paid £2500, to stay here October 2006, the room was dark, filthy, and smelly and cockroachs paradise. They were everywhere; the restaurant got closed down due to rat infestation. The chef told us that it was due to cooking equipment breaking down. The TV crew were present taking pictures and interviewing the manger, this is how we found out what was really happening by asking one of the TV crew. The staffs at the hotel were rude when we complained about the rooms; they did eventually move us only to find more cockroaches. All in all I wont be going back to this hotel, I wont travel with Thompsons again, and its put me off going anywhere even Florida for 14dys stay.

Rates were double charged, because all rooms were reserved under one name but were paid for by individuals. not only was each person charged at check-out but the person who reserved the rooms was charged for all rooms. for this i have trouble understanding because the rooms were paid for two weeks beforehand. we should not have been charged at check-out other than what we may have charged to our rooms during our stay.

Resort, ha. I should sue for false advertisement. I have never seen roaches so enormous in my life. The service was terrible, rooms were a mess with stains on the sheets, smashed roaches on the door and bath room floor. They charge for everything, even calling toll free numbers. I prepaid for my room on line, and when I checked out was told I still had to pay extra for a so called "Resort" fee. Staff was rude, couldn't answer most of my questions.

The hotel was incredibly run down. The outside was particularly in disrepair. Our room faced the dumpsters, which were always open. There was construction tape blocking an area in the parking lot. The pool supply room was run down and the inside of the room was a mess. The room itself was adequate, but we did not feel safe in the environment, when we would come in after dark.
I am not likely
to return to the Champions World Resort.
I would not recommend it to friends.

By having the words Main Gate in its title, I thought it would be closer to Disney World. It was ok for the price we paid, but it would have been nice to have a heated pool.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Champions World Resort.
