Regardless of the weather, Pacific Grove is a lovely place to stay and the Centrella offers a romantic step back into the past.
The main lobby is delightful and cozy. The staff is wonderful and accommodating to your needs, down to offering champagne glasses for the bottle we brought with us. Breakfast was great, not just the toast and fruit some other B&B's offer. Both my boyfriend and I left breakfast filled, but not overly full, so we were ready for a day of wandering.
We stayed in one of the attic suite which was the perfect place for a couple who wanted privacy and don't want to spend the extra for one of the garden cottages. With only two attic suites it was like your own private domain. Although we heard many great things about the Garden Suite, and took a peak at it one morning, it was adorable but we realized it would not offer the level of privacy the attic suite did, if that is what you are looking for. I was a little disappointed with the up keep of the room, nothing terrible just small repairs or touches which could have easily made the room's appearance 5 stars instead of 3.
The central location of the hotel is fantastic. The beach walk is a short two blocks down the street and up the other directions are numerous eating establishments from fancy to casual, everything you need you can walk to if you like. There is also a great day spa half a block away that makes your trip that much more special.
Walking to Cannery Row is definitely do-able, but is a bit of a walk so if you are not into a lot of walking, since you will do a lot just looking through all the shops, drive and park in the public lot. Then enjoy your day!
