Historic Fort Baker, on the Marin County side of the Golden Gate Bridge, has been restored and is ready to welcome guests of discerning taste. The original officers quarters were renovated to create Bayside accommodations, and the newly designed Golden Gate rooms and suites were also added. The guest reception area, restaurant, bar, and meeting facilities are also housed in remarkable landmark buildings. This unique resort sits on a dramatic oceanfront setting on 45 natural acres in Golden Gate National Park, just minutes from the town of Sausalito. Very residential in feeling, comfortable, and timeless, the setting provides a sense of community, while offering an historic perspective as well as contemporary design. Guests enjoy the relaxed, casual campus-like setting with easy access to the main public areas, dining, and meeting rooms.

Fabulous setting, new rooms very well done other than the noisy ones (1401). Staff nice but needs work, not as professional as should be for this level of hotel. If you get a great price, go, or wait a while and hope they work out the kinks. Spa

Cavallo Point is located at Fort Baker at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. The luxury 5 star hotel/resort is the first lodge built on protected American parklands -- in particular steps from the Golden Gate Parks Recreation Area.
What makes this hotel so unique is that it has 68 historic Colonial Revival rooms and suites from the turn-of-the-century. Not only have these buildings been lovingly restored but the amenities are first-class.. real linens, original art in every room, a special patina of rustic elegance. They have also built 74 contemporary rooms and suites. Virtually all rooms feature spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Area and San Francisco.
The lodge is also considered a highly environmentally friendly hotel committed to the highest standards of historic preservation and sustainability.
The list of activities at Cavallo is endless too. There's fine dining at Murray Circle and great veranda views from Farley Bar of the Bridge. The restaurant features a culinary arts program from top chefs. Also one of the finest wine cellars in the USA! There is a fantastic day spa with free parking. Also a healing arts center, adventure programs and arts programs. Not to mention kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and so many more things to do you could stay for days and never run out of things to do!
One last great item about Cavallo Point is that it has full facilities for meetings, weddings, special events and banquets. I'm sure it's going to become one of the great destinations in California for all of these events.
The luxury lodge boasts over 14,000 sq. ft, of indoor meeting space.
The resort is one mile from Sausalito and only 20 minutes by taxi from downtown San Francisco for the best in shopping at Union Square.
They call Cavallo Point a resort with a soul. I'd have to agree... my favorite hotel and trip of all time.
