February 2009. We booked our vacation well in advance, and when we arrived at the hotel, we were told that "they" over booked the hotel, and that we would have to stay at one of their affiliates, the Queen something or other. They promosed an upgrade, which we certainly didn't get, and the second hotel was awful. Never again...
My room was so noisy I could hardly sleep at night. The menu on the TV didn't work and they couldn't fix it. The hotel is old and looks old. The staff was nice, except for the maintenance guy. The restaurant was ok. But the...
The Ocean Resort Waikiki is a good place to stay when in Hawaii. The Room Rates are resonable and the staff is friendly. I have never had any complaints about the hotel. I have Stayed there 6 times over a 5 year period. The rooms have always been...
From the plane to bed - woke up in the morning covered with BITS. Dec. 25th - Jan 4th. Picture of place looks good, the price was reasonable, walking distance to the beach, and service was decent. However, check your mattress! There's a...
This hotel is not really a resort though it does have a daytime activities agent, a gift shop, variety shop, restaurant, and two pools. The hotel is an older high rise made up of two buildings extending from one lower lobby area. One wing has normal rooms, the other has small kitchen units. Furnishings are very basic. The vending/ice areas are only near the pools which are on the 3rd level of each building. However, the pools are not exceptional and don't offer any ocean views. There is also a guest laundry but it will probably take you the whole of your vacation time to find it. Both buildings have elevators, which are of questionable speed and working order. It's also a popular hotel for Asian tour groups who seem to have their own lobby activitiy desks. The rooms have lanais but because the hotel is a full block back from Waikiki Beach, there are really few good views (except for the mountain view with the low cost apartments below). My room had a small fridge but no microwave. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom but few complimentary toiletries. The TV programming included only a small assortment of cable channels. I stayed 5 days and the room was cleaned to my satisfaction, but not until near the end of the day. As far as the location goes, it's a very long 2 blocks from the two beaches with the breakwaters which allow for safe swimming. There's an ABC store down the street. the Marriott is across the way; but the Hilton Kuhio two blocks away has the 24 hr, though pricey, restaurant (good for late night arrivers). The best thing for me about this hotel was the location of the city bus stop right on the corner. it allowed me easily to take the bus to Lanikai and Kailua for the day, and to Manoa for one morning (a 4-day visitor pass at the ABC store is $20 for unlimited bus use, including back to the airport when you leave). Though the most popular shopping center is the huge Ala Moana near Honolulu, the bus often takes about 30 minutes with all the stops and traffic. So maybe you're better off taking the 22, 23, or 24 going toward Diamond Head to the Kahala Mall, because it only takes 10 minutes, often has better sales, and houses a large Whole Foods supermarket. if you're inclined to try this, try to acquire a bus schedule at the beachside McDonald's or the mall so you know the route and time schedules.
this hotel was very dirty, i found hair all over my dressers and bed, the bathroom had no fan, thus mold grew in the moist bathroom (the ceilings were stained black on the sides from mold growing..), the dishes were dirty, and the housekeeper would...

Stayed 1 week in a high floor city view, king bed, with kitchenette. Room was plenty large, mini-kitchen was very handy for AM coffee, toast, etc., and keeping beverages and snacks in fridge. All appliances worked fine. King bed was very...
My Boyfriend and I wanted a hotel located close to the beach and a decent price. We got a studio with a kitchenette. Everything we needed was there. We cooked most of our meals there which saved us a lot of money! The place was old, but that is what ...
64 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
March, 2008 was our second stay at this hotel and we would definitely return and definitely recommend it to others. A huge plus was that it was located in a relatively safe, quiet area away from traffic noise and a short walk to the beach! As with most beach area hotels, the hotel shows wear and tear from high use. However, it was clean, the staff friendly, the hotel restaurant convenient and reasonably priced, beds comfortable. The main thing that I feel was lacking was "electrical". Two switches controlled all the lights in the unit: one for the bathroom area and the other for everything else. The lamp next to the bed did not have its own on/off switch and could only be controlled by the light switch next to the front door - a big inconvenience when it was bedtime. The second thing that was inconvenient was having to take the elevator to a much lower floor to a central location to obtain ice and soda from a vending machine. There wasn't a vending machine at all with snack food.
