My Boyfriend and I wanted a hotel located close to the beach and a decent price. We got a studio with a kitchenette. Everything we needed was there. We cooked most of our meals there which saved us a lot of money! The place was old, but that is what ...

March, 2008 was our second stay at this hotel and we would definitely return and definitely recommend it to others. A huge plus was that it was located in a relatively safe, quiet area away from traffic noise and a short walk to the beach! As with most beach area hotels, the hotel shows wear and tear from high use. However, it was clean, the staff friendly, the hotel restaurant convenient and reasonably priced, beds comfortable. The main thing that I feel was lacking was "electrical". Two switches controlled all the lights in the unit: one for the bathroom area and the other for everything else. The lamp next to the bed did not have its own on/off switch and could only be controlled by the light switch next to the front door - a big inconvenience when it was bedtime. The second thing that was inconvenient was having to take the elevator to a much lower floor to a central location to obtain ice and soda from a vending machine. There wasn't a vending machine at all with snack food.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Its amenities are basic but very comfortable. Some items, such as bathtub and TV, may need upgrading, but they are all functional. I have no complaints. I have come to Honolulu more than 20 times from the mainland and have stayed at various hotels ranging from Hilton Hawaiians to Ocean Resort Hotel. Although exteriors and ambience are much nicer at Hilton than at Ocean Resort, I really don't see much difference in the quality of the room. If you are budget-conscious but want a good location, Ocean Resort is tough to beat. I recommend it highly.
On the surface the room seemed ok, but after 2 days I was covered with bites from bedbugs. Since I returned, I have left messages for the manager several times with no response. Do not stay...
I wouldn't stay again if the rooms were free. The carpet hasn't been cleaned since the hotel was built. Mold growing under the peeling wallpaper and ants crawling all over the bathroom sink. I'm by no means a clean freak and have stayed in all...

Although located in an ideal spot, this hotel needs to be completely remodeled and the staff fired. The rooms are filthy dirty, the beds just gross, bathrooms rusty, and the "Kitchenette" needs new appliances and matching service pieces. THE FRONT DESK AND MANAGEMENT ARE JUST RUDE. Their policy seems to be to take the money and run. The pool is just as gross as the rest of the property, however it does have the swankest of plastic furniture-the cheap ones you see at Home Depot under $10.00. There are only two elevators running slowly, shared with housekeeping and smelling as foul as the rooms do. Security is a joke, evidenced at night when people are seen sleeping in the lobby. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORSE ENEMY! Don't be fooled by the low rates, spend a little more and you'll be much happier.

The hotel service was really bad. The rooms had this musty smell and the shower stalls were clogged too. Don't eat at the restaurant because they gave us really bad service. They didn't refill our drinks or give us our tab in a timely matter.

This hotel was good value for the price. However, it is in real need of intensive renovation. The rooms were clean, the pool area was really not inviting and very rundown, so we did not use it as the beach was just a short walk. The bar and the restaurant were in need of renovation, too. These things did not spoil our stay. It was clean but very old and rundown.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Castle Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki.
I might recommend it to friends.

The entire staff was extremely friendly, from the valet parking to the front desk! We had a view of the street...which was actually pretty. We were amazed at how nice the rooms were for the price! The hotel is located exactly where we hoped. We could walk down Waikiki beach or stroll along the strip and catch a bite to eat and walk back without being too far away. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely stay here the next time we come back!!! Thanks Ocean Resort for a nice stay!!
