member icon The worst hotel

39 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I wasn't expecting the Cascades Lodge to be anything fancy.

I reserved a room there solely out of no choice because they were the best (I thought) of the options the would allow out small dog to join us on our trip.

The hotel was dirty, musty, likely moldy, holes in the walls, and worst of all, the staff was like the KGB. They treated the guests like prisoners, patrolling, monitoring, bothering you, all for no reason. They do not know what Americans expect, hospitality, a home away from home.

There were all kinds of hidden fees. It was like staying in a 3rd world country. Never again.

Do not stay here! Our room had snow melting into the sliding door and the floor was soaking wet. The pool needs some serious work and the hot tub was extremely overheated. The breakfast was decent, but waiting for service was ridiculous.

46 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

This was supposed to be a romantic getaway, but the place was not conducive to relaxing.

We were not treated nicely, and the room was dirty, and had holes in the wall. There were hidden fees. All I can say is that I will never go back and the staff needs to learn how to run a hotel.

They don’t know the meaning of the word "hospitality".

The manager/owner started hammering us with additional fees upon checking in, hundreds of dollars due to "system errors" in our prepaid reservation. We were told to leave with no refund if we don’t like it. We were 7 hours from home.

She harassed my GLBT family and tried to force us out. She kept knocking on our door saying she found more billing errors and charged my card $732 total, up until 2 days after our trip! I have advised the BBB, Human Rights Commission, and newspaper.

Our bedding was smaller than contracted and the room was moldy! The floor was soaking wet with a steady leak of the snow that blocked our exit melting into the room. She also refused to give us another room and instead threw white bath towels all over the floor which turned brown and our socks were wet the whole trip.

She tried to force us out without a refund. We are two mature professional women with two pre-teen calm daughters.

Do not go there!
