with a budget, traveling for leisure

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in September 2008. It was low season for Key West where we paid $180/night (inclusive). The room is EXCELLENT!!! It is more of a conference style hotel. No whirlpool, but 2 swimming pools. One fresh water and the other salt. Mojito was excellent as it was available for incoming guests on Sunday. We attended a staff function where guests were invited compliments of the house. It was a cultural lunch featuring Philippine cuisine. That was the icing on the cake. I would pay $400/night, but that's just beyond my price range despite the wonderful facility and staff. The Bell guys were super great, the receptionists were excellent and fun, some of the guys working the laundry and janitorial were not as happy, but they were okay. Great location. About 20 minutes walk to where things are happening in Duval Street, but taxi's are plenty. $12/day parking, $20/day resort fee. At the time we were there. Would we do it again given similar pricing, you bet. At $200/night, this place is a steal.

50 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We found the place warm and friendly. Have been staying in Key West for the last 20 years mainly at another luxury hotel on the other side of the island. We found the Casa Marina Resort to be tastefully restored. The private beach was really a plus. Stayed at the beach during the day and went to Duval Street in the evenings. We ate at the hotel for breakfast and lunch. We found the food to be wonderful. Our hotel room had a balcony over-looking the ocean. Room was of good size and clean. We are going to make this our hotel of the future when visiting Key West......

35 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We just got back from the Casa where we've been staying twice a year for 15 years. The renovation is awful; the place looks like a hospital; all white and sterile; it's lost all its Key West style and charm; it's obvious the management wants to cater to business parties and don't care about families! The staff doesn't seem to care about the guest either.

...and it was well worth the wait. When checking in, we were upgraded to a suite by a very nice front desk clerk (Don). The room was more than adequately sized with wonderful view of the pools and ocean.

Breakfast (we ordered ala carte) was also fine.

I think the thing that impredded us most was the level of sophistication in the decor. We had stayed here previously (perhaps 18 years ago) and the stay was not pleasant. The rooms were in desperate need of repair and redecoration. We actually felt dirty in the room - the beach was cleaner!

This renovation is so welcome. We love it and will return.

We have been to the Casa Marina many times in the past and have always completely enjoyed the place. Since it was purchased by new owners (Luxury Resorts) we recently experienced a tremendous downturn in the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The grounds are being nicely renovated, but many of the staff were actually rude at times. Definitely not the same level of courteous service we have experienced in the past. Talking to other guests who had also been there in the past, we heard the same type of comments. We will not be returning. Not to a place where the staff seems to care very little about their guests.
