Built in 1904 by Mayor Fray, this historic site, has the handsome style and craftmanship of its time. It has been restored by the present owners, who live on site giving it constant loving care. The decor is of its period, with antiques and comfort as the focus. The inviting common rooms are nicely furnished with soft sofas and plenty of room for curling up with a good book or watching a favorite movie on TV. A piano is also available for those in a music making mood. Each of the spacious guestrooms has a color television, and are decorated comfortably with patchwork quilts, antiques, and period wall decorations. Amenities include a swimming pool, spa and a rose garden. A big, family style table occupies the center of the room where Carole serves a generous and tasty continental breakfast of seasonal fruit, chilled juice, hot coffee or tea, and Michael's freshly baked bread, warm from the oven. Overlooking the large pool is a deck and a patio area. Location is within walking distance to Balboa Park, and an assortment of small shops and restaurants.

Excellent
The warm, homey experience was only exceeded by the good food and personal attention from Carole. The conversations with the other customers were very enjoyable. When we come back to see our relatives Carole's is where we will stay.
