Excellent

We needed to just get away from everyday life and a friend had recommended we try it here. This relaxing getaway is just about one mile south of Carmel. The views and scenery are utterly breathtaking and the rooms come with private decks, balconies...

Just got back and am looking forward to going back next year. The updated cottage was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom was very handicapped friendly. The fenced in back patio was perfect for our dog and the gardens were a delight. Front staff was friendly and helpful. Great place to stay for the money.

Okay
52 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

I stayed in one of the yet to be renovated rooms and it was a bit more "rustic" than I had wanted. It had a comfortable bed but it had an old feeling and the bathroom/shower wasn't to my liking. It just needs to be renovated - right now the old rooms would be more to the liking of perhaps college students. I bought some room spray because of the rustic smell of my room. All that said, I met and had a fabulous time with the people there - all dog people. My 2 dogs were able to run free on the property with no problem. I complained about my room and tried to get a renovated room but known were available and the management surprised me with a discount at check out. I saw the newly renovated rooms and they are very nice and I will return if I can stay at one of them! The grounds are lovely and they seem to be in the process of renovating all the cabins. It's nice for evening outdoor gatherings w/ a bottle of wine and friends around the gardens and water fountains.

I have stayed there before and I like the fact that there are separate cottages you can stay in. I will go back there when I can.

The hotel cottages are nestled amongst redwood trees, next to the Carmel River. It is one of the most soul satisfying places to stay at in the United States.

I am very likely to return to the Carmel River Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Pet-friendly comfort – Posted Jan 31, 2007

Okay

Would I stay again, it's hard to say. The Inn itself looks quite promising from the outside. Their cute, quaint, and picturesque grounds are amid the stunning outdoor scenery that is Carmel. Once inside however, it is another story. I expected the inside to match the outside and was very disappointed.

The beds were bad, the restroom creepy and the "rustic" furniture was simply outworn, out of date and felt "unclean". The best feature of this small Inn was that it was pet friendly. For that we "might" stay again simply for the locale, out of door options and, most importantly, it's pet friendliness.

It is a small Inn, so there is not really a staff. It is more of a cabin where you come and go on your own and might see a cleaning lady, if you are lucky. There are better pet friendly lodging options in Carmel and Carmel Valley. What is nice about this place though is that there are several rooms vs. just one hotel room. It’s a decent size, too.

Like most of Carmel, you are amid amazing natural wonders, gorgeous homes and a beautiful beach. If you plan on spending most of your time out of the room this place could be a good option. I have heard that they have renovated a few of the rooms but have not been back to give it a second try (yet).

It’s worth a try for those traveling with their four legged friends.

Horrible service, awful amenities – Posted Oct 05, 2006

Horrible
33 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The rooms were Spartan and cold. There was no fireplace or heater as advertised. The service is horrible. They accidentally cancelled our two night stay while we were there. We had booked for the whale watching package and could not use the tickets because we had to find another place to stay the next day. The not-so-helpful people at the front desk did not want to refund us the money for the tickets and told us to call the company ourselves to make arrangements for another day. They had horrible service and awful amenities!

The Carmel River Inn is well known for its cottages, which I stayed in with a relative. It's close to shopping, and the ocean. What's not to like? I usually try to go in the off seasons, but still when the weather is not too rainy. I like the abilit

It's quiet and comfortable. They are expanding so there might be construction noise through the spring.

It is a nice a cozy place. The rooms are small but very cozy great for a romantic getaway. But the hotel is very hard to see from Highway 1 and it can be dangerous to get back onto Highway 1.
