The totally renovated Carmel Mission Inn (Completed July 08) is now a member of Luxe Hotels Worldwide. 100% non-Smoking rooms. Centrally located and close to all Monterey attractions. Heated Pool. Complimentary WiFi. The Carmel Mission Inn is conveniently located at the intersection of Highway 1 and Rio Rd. With 165 colorfully decorated boutique style rooms the hotel offers special touches with luxury bath products, massage services, heated pool and spas. The recent renovation includes the introduction of Fuse Lounge Caf?. While not your typical hotel restaurant, Fuse reflects the hotel's edgy ambience with trendy design elements and accented with bright, vivid colors. The restaurant/bar is roomy and open with bamboo flooring, stacked stone fireplaces and columns, comfortable, over-sized chairs, sleek mahogany bar, two large flat screen TVs and walls of windows with views of the pool and gardens. The hotel also features a large garden patio with fountains and a fire pit.

My wife and I stated at the Carmel Mission Inn just recently (August 2007) and we were pleased with the location. It is strategically located and great for getting around. Another great aspect of the motel is that it is PET FRIENDLY. Big plus for them. Having said that, we were totally underwhelmed by the accomodations based on the price. We paid nearly $270 on one night and $170 on two other nights. I'd have really had to think hard again to pay over $150 any night. A word to the wise, we looked at the photos of the motel on several sights and got caught by the appearance of the valance/canopy over the beds. Unfortunately our room didn't have one - and that was a real selling point for us.
A couple of other cons - if you are staying on the first floor, which are the rooms for pet owners, don't expect a patio of any form. Also, note that you'll not have a microwave. We experienced a bathroom nightlight that had a mind of its own during our stay. Also, don't expect to have any restaurant facilities except for morning meals. Although, there are very close restaurants both behind and across the street from the motel. All-in-all we summarized our stay as adequate but certainly over-priced.

I found this to be a comfortable place. The furnishings were very nice. (The mattress was nicer than mine.) It was clean. Everything worked. Desk staff was nice. Several nice restaurants in adjoining shopping complexes within walking distance.

The hotel is in great location. We had a beautiful king room with a balcony that had a wonderful view of the mountains of Carmel Valley.
The staff was warm and friendly except for a grouchy waiter at breakfast in the restaurant. The hotel has a beautiful pool and Jacuzzi as well as beautiful lush plantings on the grounds. The hotel looks to be about 40 years old, but well kept and clean.
The walls are thick and I slept very well.
I thought the rate of $98 in January was great value. I will stay here again.

My wife and I were impressed with the friendly staff and the cleanliness of our room. On arrival, the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The check in was efficient and the helpfulness of the staff was better than expected. The room was immaculate and the bed was very, very comfy. A nice touch was being able to call the desk to get quick dinner recommendations and directions. The room was quite and we felt safe and comfortable for our two day stay. We'll be back!
