21 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for business

Last month I attended the National Education Association conference as a delegate and we said at the Capital Hilton Washington D.C. I do not recommend staying here. If you planned on paying with you Debit or Credit Card, expect a hold of $75 each day you are staying there. We were told that we would not have a hold on our cards and then had to struggle with customer service to get the holds off again and again.I cannot explain to you how often we had to talk to the unhelpful managers and clear this situations up. Also, if you expected to use internet there is a charge. Same for the gym. There is no pool. PLEASE do not make your vacation stressful, and stay somewhere else that is not over priced and treats you like a customer.

This hotel is in a wonderful location. That was really the best feature that we found. We were close to two metro stations and only a couple of blocks from the White House.

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The concierge had medical supplies such as bandaids.

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days/9 nights. Our beds were made each day but we had the same sheets for the entire time. The bottom sheet did not go to the end of the bed. It stopped about a foot from the end. We received new towels each day but did not have a bath mat every day. We had new glasses and bath amenities each day. The room did smell of smoke and we are non-smokers. The bathroom was not cleaned the whole time we were there either. The complimentary breakfast that they have on the 10th floor is not for everyone, just "honors" members. We felt like we should have received some kind of breakfast since we gave them our business for 9 nights.

38 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for business

Myself and a colleague arrived on a Tuesday only to realize that our reservation was not until Wednesday. Of course, our mistake. We asked if they had two rooms for the night. Lucky for us they did. We were getting a great rate(I guess it is all relative) because of a convention we were attending at the hotel. It was $214 a night. When I went to sign the bill it was not $214 for the additional night. It was $369 for each of the rooms. A full $155 more! When I questioned the rate I was told they did give us a discount, normally it was $499. Well needless to say we had to take the rooms. No choice at that point. While it was our fault for the mixup. considering we were staying for 5 nights I felt the hotel should have given the original rate of $214.

It just showed the unwillingness of the Capital Hilton to help a "Honors" member. The room stunk badly of stale smoke, the tv is smaller than in any bargin hotel I have been in, and we never did get a bathmat. I DO NOT recommend the Capital Hilton.

I have stayed here many times because of business and the hotel's location. The location is great! The room's furnishings are standard Hilton comfortable bed and toiletries. However, the airconditioning and heating never works and the water pressure is aweful. The room service is the most expensive room service I have ever seen. Not many choices in downtown DC if you are a Hilton Honors member.

It is a great location near the national mall and several metro stops. The buffet was a good value, though the hotel food was generally of mediocre quality, the room service was slow and, in the tradition of all the food in the vicinity of the mall, overpriced.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Capital Hilton.
I might recommend it to friends.
