Candlewood Suites Lake Mary

When we arrived the outside was under construction, a little intimidating! However our room was perfect, clean and had a full kitchen with a comfortable recliner. They have a little store, fitness center and outside pool. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the construction had little impact on anything. Staff was friendly and helpful and even helped us get directions to a couple of places. Unlike other hotesl they do not do housekeeping every day but you can exchange towels at the front desk, which is no big deal. WE loved being able to cook full meals in our room, and it is located in a quiet area which is nice to walk in. There is a lake across the road and down a bit FYI!

The whole Lake Mary area was sold out and I was supposed to have reservations at the La Quinta. When I arrived, they informed me that they had overbooked and that they would be paying for me to stay at a different hotel for one night.

I arrived at the Candlewood and the Front Desk person was surprisingly pleasant. They have a nice little shop, where you can get snacks and drinks 24 hours a day. The rooms were awesome and really clean. My wife met me the next day and loved it as well. We ended up canceling our stay at La Quinta and staying the rest of the two nights for the same price!

This place was an unpleasant surprise. The check in desk boasts a bullet proof window, no restaurant, or even fresh food to buy, the non-smoking rooms had a putrid vile disinfectant smell to cover the pet urine and smoke smell that was evident after day two.

If you want clean towels, garbage emptied or your bed linens cleaned more than once every ten days, then this is not the place to stay. For less than $20.00 more a night and 5 miles down the road on International Parkway there is a major chain hotel that had true non-smoking rooms, daily room cleaning and a restaurant.
