38 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I travel for business to Hunteresville every week and was staying at one hotel for almost 2 years now until they moved me to another and said that they were over booked and they sent me to hotel that was horrible so I went to the Candlewood Suites and I have never felt more welcomed!! The staff was great the rooms were beautiful!! I will stay at this location every time I come to town!!!!!

I loved the entire area of Lake Norman is just absolutely beautiful. The people in this small town are very friendly.
My boyfriend arranged for a romantic Valentine's Day escape. He called and the hotel staff arranged everything. There were roses in the room, rose petals all over the floor and the bed, the candles were lit, champagne was on ice, it was magic!
The hotel itself was great, and very clean. But the staff, they just made it all come together.
Loved the staff and the facility

Excellent
This hotel has the most awesome staff!! We travelled to the area to visit family and everyone just made us feel so welcome. We stayed in the suite and found the value fit the price!! There was everything we needed in the rooms to prepare a full...
We stayed four days in Mid November and would come back. It is in a great location and is close by to numerous fine restaurants and of course the Birkdale Village. It was a great base for home hunting in the area, right off I-77.

I would write a detailed review, but I will keep it short and simple.
1) The entire hotel smells like dead rats and body odor.
2) Trash bags accumulate in the stair wells and, of course, it smells like a landfill.
3) The rooms have VHS players. Why would any hotel have a VHS player in 2006? The TV input was broken, so I couldn't even hook up my PS2 and watch my DVD's using that instead.
4) There were un-flattering people staying there who walked around with no shirt, no shoes, etc. Apparently they have no standards for how people should dress in a hotel.
5) So-called gym is in the same room as the laundry area and some of the equipment is broken. Its very awkward to be on some vintage machine from the 80s while watching someone wash their clothes.
6) Once again, the smell throughout the hotel was atrocious from top to bottom. They had to open the windows to the hotel common areas to get the suffocating smell out, even if only partially. The rooms themselves smell just as bad.
7) Their ridiculously stocked "store" had almost nothing in it that anyone would need or want on a trip. Want gum or popcorn? Sure, they have it. Need a disposable razor? Nope.
8) I'm only glad my company paid for this trip. I won't go on this trip again if I have to stay in this hotel. It's not a place a civilized person should have to stay in, for two weeks in my case.
Don't waste your time and money, and your nose, at this hotel.
This hotel exceeded my expectations for a local hotel. This was by far one of the cleanest hotels I have ever seen, and I have traveled extensivly around the country and then some. Had I not known differently, I would have thought it a brand new...
Very nice for a home search.

Good
The Candlewood Suites in Huntersville was perfect for our home search in the area. It was centrally located, it offered kitchenettes that saved on dining, and free laundry service for your stay. They have a nice honor bar for your convienience,...
If the Tv had more stations, i.e. Tv Land and Nick at night, Lifetime plus a few more, it would have been one of the cleanest and best motels i've ever stayed in. but we were bored. and our VCR did NOT work. we forgot to bring our computer,...
