27 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for business
This was the most dreadful hotel experience that I've ever had. I'm not picky (I have gone back-packing and have stayed in hostels many times) and don't ask for luxury in the hotels that I book, I'm perfectly satisfied with a clean room and a shower that works.
I booked a room at Canal Street Hotel for a conference in early January 2008.
When I arrived at the hotel, it seemed pretty run down and not very well maintained, which was surprising, given the advertisement of renovations after Katrina. I got into my room exhausted from a long trip and already late for the conference, and when I turned on the light, I noticed a big cockroach half-dead (still moving) on the floor. When I told the staff, they started laughing, and even though they removed the cockroach, they didn't even bother giving me another room or upgrading my reservation. In fact, I don't even remember them apologizing! I tried to convince myself that it was an isolated event, but in the next couple of days I saw more, smaller cockroaches in the corridors.
Besides the cockroaches, the linen on the bed were really old, and my blanket was dirty and had holes in it, which looked like they were caused by some insect.
My opinion did not improve when on my second night there, some drunk guys were really noisy and kept knocking on my door at 4 or 5am.
The staff was not very helpful in general, and when I tried calling them before arriving they kept putting me on hold for so long, that I needed to hang up. During my stay in the hotel every time that I walked past the front desk there were dissatisfied guests arguing with the receptionist. As I was waiting for a taxi to take me to airport when my conference was over, a bunch of policemen came in the building and went to the back of the hotel. I have never been more eager to leave a place.
35 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
If you are ever in New Orleans, you have to stay there, it is a wonderful hotel walking distance to French Quarter and Bourbon Street. They rooms have just been renovated and they look great. It is not a luxury hotel but for the price you pay you get a great value. My room was nice and clean and had all I was looking for. My stay was perfect.

This is a good hotel for the money, good location, ok product , walking distance to French quarter what more could you ask in New Orleans. People that work there are very helpful. Will come back.
30 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
I disliked the stopped up bathtub and dark water. There was no restroom in the lobby, and the only available restroom was on the top floor without toilet paper. Pigeons were in the hotel walking around on my floor.
I am not likely
to return to the Canal Street Hotel French Quarter New Orleans - Superdome Area.
I would not recommend it to friends.

If you ever go to New Orleans, you have to visit The Canal Street Hotel, their rooms are great, big and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very close to the French Quarter.

I chose the canal street hotel only because they do accept pets, room was clean, and everything worked fine. Hotel is in the good location so you can walk to the French Quarter.

I stayed there while being on the trio with some friends. We spent most of the time on Bourbon Street which was only 5 minutes away from the hotel. We did not stay a lot in the room but it was clean and had everything there has to be in the hotel room. The price was a key factor for us so we had nothing to complain about.
