This hotel is nothing special, it is nice economy hotel in the perfect location, nothing to fancy, it is perfect if you have a budget to work with and want to party. Great for all college kids. Will come back there most likely

From the Start was an Unpleasant Experiance. Pool was closed. Room was HOT. IT had dryer sheets in the AC unit to help the smell..it did not help. Shower had tiles VERY poorly glued back into place. Room had no Furniture other then the bed.Did not feel safe what so ever. Person at counter was wonderfully pleasant..that was the only nice thing. Checked back out after about 2 minutes of seeing room. Talked to N.O. Police Officer about another Hotel recommendation, and was told they always get calls for that hotel. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!

There was nothing good about this hotel at all. Our room was dirty with a blood stain inside the door jam to the bathroom. Our carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed in months. The website is very misleading our room looked nothing like the pictures. The lock on our door did not work. It was not a safe place to stay. Our room did not over look Canal Street like the website claimed instead it overlooked the I10 bridge with the homeless people living under it. There was no air conditioning in any of the rooms. The staff was very rude. The worst part was waking up at 330am to find roaches in the bed and all over the floor. Absolutely disgusting place. Would not even recommend to the homeless people living outside.

We arrived at this hotel on a Friday evening ready to get settled in and enjoy our weekend. The lobby was nice and the desk clerk was nice. We reserved this hotel through hotwire.com, but the clerk could not find our reservation information. After finally contacting someone at hotwire.com and getting the information faxed to the hotel, we were finally put in our rooms. Once we got to our floor and out of the elevator, our faces dropped. It looked like a place where crack heads and homeless people would hide out. The lighting was awful and there were trash cans to catch the water dripping from the ceilings. I was frightened. We found the rooms and immediately after opening the doors, I felt like we were in the movie "Vacancy". The room stunk like if they sprayed a lot of chemicals to cover up odors, baby roaches were crawling in the tub, the bolt was broken off on the door, and there was a door that led to the other hotel room we were next to. It looked nothing like what was advertised on the website. We were very disappointed and disgusted. I've been in Super 8 and Motel 6 hotels that were way better than that. We were able to contact hotwire.com again. They contacted another hotel for us--Country Inn and Suites--and this hotel made an exception and had us in a room very early Saturday morning. The service and cleanliness of Country Inn and Suites was extraordinary. I will never go back to Canal Street Hotel and advise anyone who reads this not to. I know that you get what you pay for but this was ridiculous.

02/05/08. This is a very old facility. The general condition of the hotel is poor. We stayed three nights and were moved three times. The first room didn't have heat. The second room, when attempting to shower, the knob for the hot water came off in our hand. The third room had standing water in the shower above my ankles after showering. Two of the rooms had spots on the ceiling tiles where water had leaked in. One of the two elevators was non operational. Other guests had similar complaints. Desk and housekeeping staff did their best to resolve issues. Not recommended.

I stayed there on my usual trip to New Orleans and i chose this hotel only due the best price i could find so i did not look for much, but i actually found this hotel ok, room was fine and clean but a bit old but everything worked ok and i had a good time. The staff was just great there. Friendly place to stay.
