The city of Calistoga is known for its underground hot springs & mineral pools. Our Napa Valley Hotel is one of only a few hotels in the area that naturally heat and fill our pools with geothermal mineral water. We offer a wade pool, swim pool, and large hot tub all filled by our underground well. Therefore you can be sure of year round enjoyment of the soothing benefits of Calistoga?s unique geothermal mineral water! Lastly, to cap off your swim, dry off in our dry sauna room
Official Hotel Information
Those previous reviews were for the wrong hotel. They panned the Calistoga Inn, a hotel, not the Calistoga Village Inn, a very fine motel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was great with sunken tub, Frig, microwave, air conditioned etc. The mineral pools were at no extra charge, (unlike most of the other lodging places in town), and it was easy to book--probably because of the erroneous reviews. The rate was only $129 a night on a weekend. Check it out.
It was understaffed--they only had one person running the spa AND hotel check-in. Dirty, moldy rooms and run-down spa facilities. Yuck. There are many nice spas in the area, so give this one a miss.
I called to make reservations. I told receptioninst that I was a returning customer. I felt rushed and uneasy talking to her. My initial stay was alright. Place looks cheap.pool looks dirty to me.

This a European-style hotel which means you have a sink in your room, but the toilet and shower facilities are shared and down the hall. The hotel is small and located above a lively bar and busy restaurant. On Saturday nights the live music in the bar might keep you awake if you go to bed before midnight.
The rooms vary in size between large and 'cozy'. The restrooms and shower rooms are centrally located and there is only occasionally a wait for a shower in the morning. The shower rooms are individual (not multiple stalls) and are segregated (though since they're individual it isn't clear why).
The hotel serves a free continental breakfast to the hotel guests only in the restaurant downstairs.
Parking can be a challenge. You'll need to find a place on the residential streets next to the hotel. You may have to park a block or so away.
The restaurant in the hotel is very good.
Since the hotel is located on one end of Calistoga's main street its a short walk to many other restaurants or to one of Calistoga's famous mud bath spas.
Staying in Calistoga is very convenient for visiting Napa Valley wineries and tends to be a bit cheaper than the central part of the Napa Valley. It's also one of the most affordable hotels.
If you don't mind not having a bathroom in your room and are looking for a relative bargain, this is definitely the place! We've stayed at this hotel many times and recommended it many others. The hotel books up fast, so reserve ahead of time.

If you're looking to go to Calistoga to go wine tasting, or go antiquing, and you don't really care about where you stay, this place might be for you. We were expecting a lot more than what we received when we showed up at this hotel, especially for the price.
The rooms are ancient, they've fixed them up a bit since the 30's maybe, but need a lot more work. There was peeling paint on the ceiling, the driveway is falling apart, and they no longer have an exercise room. They have 3 pools, one large, one small and a hot tub, all are in disrepair and are not very appealing. If they just spent some time cleaning the facility and used a little paint, it would be a huge improvement, the property seems neglected. A little TLC would go along way here.
Their service is not very good either. I wanted a soda, and their soda machine was out, all I got from the staff was a suggestion to cross the highway and go to the other hotel and see if I could find one there. Later, when I needed an iron, they had me come over to the office to pick it up, delivery was "not possible" I was told because there was only on person on duty. But when I showed up two minutes later, there were at least two people at the front desk, and doing nothing that warranted my extra trip to the office. The iron itself was filthy, when I tried to iron my shirt, it left a nice dark streak on the shirt, making it unwearable. They also mixed up the pricing on the room, the spa, etc., it took a calculator to fix the problem. Their staff could use more training in service procedures and a better knowlegde of their pricing structure.
I would not recommend a stay here, research the hotel properly and know what you're in for before travelling. If I had known ahead of time what to expect, I would not have felt so let down as when we stayed here.

Mediocre
I love going to day spas so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to have some treatments at the Calistoga Village Inn and Spa. However, I do like the spa treatments to be sanitary and conducted in private. This place was just one big room, and...
I have used the spa facilites for about the last 3 years, and it has only gone down hill. The front staff has the absolute worst customer service skills of any spa/lodging I've been to. The manager was not willing to help, rude and un-trained...
They ruined my family reunion. We placed three separate reservations for 2 nights and somehow they ALL became reservations for 1 night. We squeezed into fewer rooms for the second night and they had the gall to charge us more.
Maybe we were expecting something more romantic when we signed up for a couple's spa package at a place where lodging was offered as well for a decent price. The pictures looked great, but i've stayed in nicer rooms in third-world countries. ...

This place seemed like being in the cheap seats. There were 3 pools: cool, lukewarm with a vortex, and tepid. None was truly hot. If you're going to Calistoga for hot water, don't go here. The enclosure over the tepid tub was lovely, but ...
