The Caliente Tropics Resort in Palm Springs, California opened again in March of 2001 after undergoing over $2 million in renovations. It's a prime example of one of the last standing Polynesian-themed motor hotels out of the 60's. Our Tiki and Polynesian style Palm Springs hotel now offers rooms that are both spacious and luxurious, with unique furnishings. Our exterior has been re-designed to reflect the mid-century look of when this Palm Springs resort first opened back in 1964.
Relax, swim, and enjoy the spectacular mountain views surrounded by the aura of the tiki torches, where Nancy Sinatra lived and Elvis visited. The hotel in Palm Springs offers indoor/outdoor meeting space for up to 250 people. We are in a prime location and are the first choice when it comes to Palm Springs vacation rentals. We offer only non-smoking rooms and are always pet-friendly. Room packages are available for you to experience the best in Palm Springs Hotels.

Excellent
Friendly staff, clean room, good location. Not the nay welder, but did not expect it to be at the price we paid. It was a nice motel for the money and was close to all. The staff was of great help to answer all area questions asked. We are grateful...
Was our first time there. Had a wonderful time by the pool all the guests and staff were friendly. Very impressed with the rooms for being an older establishment. Will stay here...
63 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Caliente Tropics is a clean modest motel with a cute tiki personality and nice touches. Shampoo and conditioner, a microwave on request, frige, large tv, great bed and linens, newer carpet, wallpaper and lounge chair. Good local activity magazines. Get a quieter room on the 2nd floor. Nice big pool and jaccuzzi. For about $50.00 you can't beat it. Not right in town, but close enough, and the engine revver in the parking lot at 6:30 am wasn't their fault.

The Caliente Tropics Resort fails to let its guests know that there is not someone on the property or available to attend to emergencies after a certain hour.
I locked myself out of my room at 5:30 am as I was going back to get my final luggage for the car, and there was no one on duty to help me at all! The office was completely dark and locked, and the sign on the door said to use the courtesy phone to the right, to call for assistance after hours. I was connected to an answering service, and after being placed on hold for what seemed like an eternity, I was informed that the On-Call personnel could not be reached! I was told that they would keep trying to reach somebody. Meanwhile, it was about 43 degrees outside and I was freezing. I wound up calling the police who showed up only to tell me that I needed to contact the hotel people.
The morning clerk finally showed up and apologized for the inconvenience. I was comped for my last night stay for my trouble begrudgingly by the regional manager, who was smug and arrogant on the phone to me, and tried to make it seem like the whole thing was my fault.
Folks, don't waste your time with this place. Its dangerous! Especially if you have young children, or an expensive car, as this is a trap for any rapist, burglar, vandal, car thief, or homeless person who happens to get the urge to make a move. There will be no one on site to offer you any assistance. Stay at the Marriott or the Wyndham or any reputable place that can at least offer security. Heck, the Travelodge is right next door, and they have someone there 24/7.
At first we thought it might be corny staying at a tiki style hotel, but we really liked it. The rooms are large and nicely done. There is a huge pool with a Hawaiian style bar that serves cocktails and food at the pool and at the pool bar. There is ...
Spa was a surreal, tacky experience

Horrible
I didn't stay at the resort, so I cannot speak to the quality of the motel. In order to warn others, I am reviewing the spa, where I was "treated" to a 4 1/2 hours of a very bizarre experience, which was nothing like any of the high-end ...
