27 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I was cheated and spat upon, we were given a room that had clearly been smoked in even though I was made to sign a contract that would make me liable if I smoked in it, it was pathetically covered up with a noxious orange spray that gave me a headache and turned my stomach, hotel was showing a lot of age and disrepair, the elevator made troubled noises and never stopped in the same place (just above the floor or just below the floor), fan did not work in our room, all of the front desk staff I dealt with were English-second-language with very thick accents, there was no complimentary toothbrush available, in my opinion we were charged three times what the room was worth and even though we were there for the stampede and I expected some gouging this felt way out of line for such a shabby hotel – Travelodge should be ashamed of this franchise

22 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

This hotel was not particularly designed well. Our room was located in the far end of the hotel. Considering that the front end desk and exit were located in the other side of the rectangular building, this required a long walk from the elevators (Or stairs) to our room. There was another elevator in the middle of the building - however, we still had to walk through the rows of rooms on the ground floor on our way out.

The room was small, but comfortable. It was clean, and the staff did pay attention to details when they were tidying up the rooms.

The air conditioner that was installed in the room was unacceptably noisy during operation. Its loud humming noise repeatedly woke me up from slumber every once in a while.

We didn't check out the pool or the fitness centre, so they cannot be commented on.

The service was inconsistent. There was one time when I stood at the front desk for a few minutes for a simple request while the front-end staff was chatting in the back room about non-work related issues. One of them appeared to have seen me - but continued to talk to her coworker behind anyway. The other one saw me a minute later and alerted her about me. After a while, the first finally came up and assisted me. Judging by her lack of enthusiasm and a smile, it seemed as if though she viewed me as an inconvenience.

The other time, I asked for directions for a particular area of interest at the front desk. Behind the counter was a different person. He was friendly and was more than willing to accommodate me.

The view was not particularly picturesque. Since it is located in a busy commercial area on a busy road, the only things that can be seen from the window are buildings - or Macleod Trail. However, that being said, it is located within walking distance of two of the largest shopping malls in the city, a popular night spot (The Ranchman's), shops, restaurants, and other amentities. It is also home to one of two comedy clubs, The Comedy Cave. (This also served our breakfast in the morning, which tasted great) Whether the hotel's location is a particular advantage (or disadvantage) is ultimately up to you.

We received a great deal on the room, so the value for our money was pretty good.
