My wife and I stayed in Chalet 25 over Christmas from 24-26 December, 2006. Our stay overall was quite nice and the price was reasonable at $240 a night for a chalet on our own near the lake.
The chalet was clean for the most part, besides marks on the walls, but other than that there were many issues. There was only one small lamp in the main bedroom that had a wire that kept shorting and at random times the light would go out. At one point when I tried to set the wire in a place that wouldn't short, sparks shot out from the outlet! The TV has cable, but in reality only had about 10 channels at best, the wireless internet cost $10 and the heart shaped Jacuzzi’s water went freezing cold after only about 5 minutes. But overall it was nice and cozy for Christmas despite a couple annoyances.
We actually enjoyed our stay until we left and realized we were missing a small box with $200 cash in it! After speaking with the manager it turns out that the cleaning lady thought it was trash and threw it away! The box was nowhere near a trash can and was left on the table so we'd know where it was later. After speaking with all levels of management we were told that we were careless for leaving our money in a box and refused to reimburse us for the missing $200. Shouldn't the cleaner have looked in the box before throwing it out? Additionally, it wasn't even near trash.
The managers were very belittling even though we tried to remain positive and friendly though it. This was by far our worst experience with service and intend on making a case out of this to drive home a point so others aren't a victim of such poor management. It is apparent that they do not agree that the customer is always right, be prepared to fight if you find yourself in a similar situation. My wife and I are both very forgiving and willing to work with situations but our experience with Cal-Neva is worth warning you about.
