Check in was easy and we paid $80 to upgrade. The "upgraded" room we got was small with view of parking garage and roof. We often stay in good hotels and this was NOT an 'upgrade' room. The hotel agreed to exchange it for one near the top of the Augustus tower. Much better... larger, newer, with a great view of the strip. Nice to have a sofa with coffee table, comfortable chair and table with chairs. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom arrangement with glassed shower, separate jacuzzi tub, separate toilet room, double sinks and beautiful marble floor was great. Towels thick and cushy. Although the windows don't open, there is an arrangement to let fresh air into your room - thank heavens. However ... even with this, our non-smoking room occasionally had a fairly strong smell of cigarette smoke. Worse yet, the carpet had not been vacuumed - nor was it cleaned the entire time we were there (5 days). Turn down of the bed was offered only 2 out of 5 nights. Room service was reasonably good - and fairly priced - which is a plus. The pool area could be quite crowded, with chairs closely packed together. No complimentary morning newspaper - something you get at many hotels with fewer 'stars'! No coffee maker in the room either and to get coffee you have to walk 'miles' through the casino. Definitely inconvenient.
To get higher marks Caesar's needs to:
1) Clean the rooms better and more often. And thoroughly vacuum them at least between guests!
2) Provide either coffee makers in the rooms or small coffee shops at the base of each elevator set.
3) Get MUCH better ventilation in public areas. They all reek of cigarette and cigar smoke! Personally, I would prefer a total ban of indoor smoking. I don't appreciate having to breath carcinogenic cigarette smoke and you have to breath this to get anywhere in the hotel.
4) Reduce the food prices. In general, food is considerably more expensive here than at most other places.
