A friend and I made the mistake of checking into this disgusting place to get a night of rest after a trip to the Keys. When you choose a hotel like this, you're not doing it for the luxury or amenities. Considering the price and the fact that it is the "Budget Inn", the only reasonable expectation would be a place to catch some sleep and grab a shower. Obviously, you're not paying for the Ritz.
With expectations properly put into perspective, let me now explain why any poor, unfortunate soul considering staying at the Budget Inn Ocean Resort should turn around and run away fast. Very fast.
The rooms are filthy. I'm not talking about a little dirt missed under the bed. I'm quite certain our room had not seen a vacuum in months. No, I am not kidding. There was dirt, crumbs, and who knows what else gracing the floor of that room.
The mattresses are HORRIBLY FILTHY and honestly smell something akin to a homeless person crossed with a wet dog. There are bugs in the mattresses. I am not a biologist, but I can certainly tell you there are more than one kind. The mattress are a little ecosystem of their own.
Now for the fun part - even after all of the things mentioned above, out of sheer exhaustion from our trip, we decided to still try and at least get a few hours sleep there before doing any more driving. After a few hours in this horrible dump, both my friend and I broke out with something I can only compare to chigger bites. I don't even want to imagine what kind of parasitic insects from that place are living on my body right now. Never in my life have I experienced such a disgusting thing. I am still completely shocked at the moment. Maybe it was "bedbugs" or something, I don't know, but it is NOT cool.
The shower was barely functional and infested with mildew - not a little bit of mildew - we're talking an entire forest of mildew. There was a large window inside the shower with no curtain. You seriously get to shower in front of a large, completely uncovered window. And trust me, anyone unfortunate enough to make the mistake of staying at this place will be more than desperate to wash off the filth. Unfortunately, the bathroom - along with the rest of the place - is so filthy, you'll be wanting to be hosed down with a pressure washer and some Clorox.
This is a disgusting motel.
The only reason I am taking the time to write this in between scratching my entire body is because I seriously hope to prevent any other person from having to experience this filthy, disgusting motel
Please take my advice and stay far, far away from this place. It redefines nasty.
