In January of 1979, Gene Oliver, an airline pilot, his wife Marjorie, a nurse, with their son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cindy, purchased Brynwood fulfilling their dreams to live in the mountains and own their own business. In April they moved from Utah with 5 children ages 1 to 20. Gene was still a captain on Western Airlines, and during his days off enjoyed decorating the cottages with his family. His favorite was the 11th Aero Squadron, which displays many keepsake photographs and documents of aviation history, including a mantle picture of him dressed in WWI uniform. Gene passed away in 1985 and Gary and Cindy took over, Marge took on another venture with other family members. Now the third generation Olivers are helping with the "family" business. You will find cottages of many themes at Brynwood. Experience the old west in the "Bunk House" or the turn of the century in the "Chic-a-dee" surrounded by antiques and stained glass. Capture the feeling of the Austrian Alps in the "Zimmer Frei" with a private hot tub that overlooks the river. Escape to the "Love Nest" for a romantic get-a-way with it's 2 person, 5'x5' jetted tub, and moss rock waterfall adjacent to the fireplace. Cast your fishing line from the deck of the "Rock'n River"or write your memoirs from the screened porch of the "Hide-a-way". In "The Den" you are surrounded by the feel of the wild, all decorated in wolves. "Cuddle Cove" and "Sleepy Hollow", our cozy escape for two, display McFate's famous Intarsia. "Cartoon Junction" captures the excitement of the young and the young at heart. Our "Hummingbird" cabin captures quaint, country atmosphere. Come and see how the indoors compliment the incomparable beauty of the outdoors.

We stayed at Brynwood in a cabin on the river, it was wonderful! The accommodations were clean and the hot tub was fabulous overlooking the river! We have stayed in "The Sea Galley", "Rock'n River", Zimmer Frei" and "The Bunkhouse" and each time have loved the experience! We are hoping to book "The Love Nest" for our anniversary this year. The kitchen had everything we needed. We loved sitting on the deck overlooking the river! We even caught an 18" trout just outside our cabin! The pool is always like bathtub water, very warm and inviting after hiking, not to mention the hot tub! We love the location at Brynwood because it's just a mile or so to downtown Estes Park and about the same distance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We will always return to Brynwood!

Brynwood is located close to town. Many of the cabins are right on the Big Thompson river. They also have some hotel units. Our cabin had a view of the front range of the Rockies and the Big Thompson. You could hear the soothing sound of the river. The cabins have cable TV and full kitchens. The outdoor pool is small but nice. The bathroom was small but okay. The sofa bed was not that great, but the beds were very comfortable and the cabin was very clean. This cabin had a nice screened porch. They are a little more expensive than some other places.
