24 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for business

The Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool is something of a landmark in the city, having been the subject of a TV programme in late 1990's. Built for the passengers of the Titanic, the hotel to this day mirrors that of a grand ship! I stayed there for 2 nights on a DBB rate on a business trip. The Hotel claims to have been fully refurbished fairly recenltly, although I felt that the rooms, corridors etc were still slightly dated. I had a large double room which had a large leather sofa in it as well, so was all very comfortable. It was reasonably clean, although I found a cake wrapper down the back of the bed! I would say that half of the rooms look into a central courtyard that the lift shaft operates out of - so I had 2 fairly interupted nights sleep unfortunately. With regard to facilities, the hotel has a large pool and gym, which I didn't visit but a colleague did and said they were clean adn very very pleasant. Eating is a big thing at the Adelphi! There are loads of eating outlets and I had dinner in the main dining room - a self service restaurant with lots of choice, although I did have to wait for some dishes to be replenished. Breakfast was hearty and self served again, which is always handy whrn on business and don't really have the time to relax. The location of the hotel works in it's favour - about 2 steps from the city's main train station and well positsioned for the shops. I feel that the Adelphi has loads of potential but is just too large to be a stunning hotel.
