I stayed at this hotel with my family a few weeks ago and it was lovely! The room looked just like the picture, the breakfast was great, and the service was definatley up to par.
The best part of the hotel is the service! Everyone...

Excellent
We liked this place a lot! It is very small, only 40 rooms. There is a pretty foyer with a big fireplace, which was burning brightly when we checked in. Two guests were having a glass of wine in the foyer, and chatting with what we thought might...

My husband I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past years. Our most recent stay was in late March. It is located in a quiet courtyyard of shops, very near the Museum. The rooms are clean, well furnished, and the hotel attracts and maintains a consistently quiet and well mannered customer. The front desk staff has changed a lot over the years and at our most recent stay there was an addition of a very gracious and personable front desk receptionist who would have fit in very well at a top 5 star hotel. They have a little bar in the lobby/foyer where guests can sit by the big stone fireplace and have a drink and there is a fantastic new restaurant in front that serves the best mushroom soup we have ever had. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who understands what "quaint" and "refined" are, but not for those who are looking for razzle dazzle Manhattan type noise and glamour. We will continue going back!

My girlfriend and I had just recently stayed 2 weeks ago at the Brandywine River Hotel here for a little romantic getaway and
to check out some of the popular attractions nearby.
On the surface it certainly appeared to be a pretty good price for a room with a 2 person jacquizzi, but after our experience we thought otherwise.
The entire bathroom was extremely annoying and disappointing. We specifically asked for the jacquizzi that could fit 2 people.
Before I made a reservation, I called them up and asked them to if they have 2 person jacquizzis and they said yes. and they can fit 2 people , but only barely( I was wondering just how small the single person jacquizzi were if the 2 person ones were this small).
It was very difficult for both of us to enjoy it at the same time. But this is the least annoying of my problems with this room.
This is bad advertising.this is like saying you are a romantic hotel but the rooms are only with twin beds.
Also, every single plumbing fixture in our bathroom had at least 1 problem ( both bathtub knobs were loose/stripped, the sinks cold water knob was leaking when you rotated the knob in the shut off position .and the cold water handle in the shower was all not up to par as well(too loose and difficult to figure out which way to turn them because it provided a nearly constant poor water pressure.)
These problems should have been found out long ago and replaced. The odds that 1 fixture becomes defective are fairly common, but ALL of them?!
The worst part was the shower. the water coming out of it was so fine and the water pressure was so poor it was very very hard to take a shower.( for the price they were asking for these rooms you would think they could a 10 dollar shower head at a hardware store!).My girlfriend was so annoyed with the shower we decided to just take a shower when we got back home because she knew it would take her a long time to wash her hair with that weak and fine shower spray.I have very short hair and even i had problems washing my hair
I am sure while you are reading this you are asking yourself why we didnt request around room. the answer is the only reason we went to this hotel was because they had 2 person jacquizzis. And there was only a limited number of rooms( when I called the front desk they stated that they are bigger than a bed and breakfast but smaller than a hotel-kind of in between). So they probably didnt have any rooms available anyway and even if they did They only have a few rooms that have 2 person jacquizzis. besides as I said, since we saw all the bathroom fixtures were defective. we figured the rooms were all the same.
While we were leaving,I went up to the front desk and drop off my keys and I was hoping she would ask me how my stay was so it would be an easy way to mention my problems. she never asked me. out of all the hotels ive been in this is one of the few that never me that. Still I mentioned every bathroom problem to the front desk. The lady at the front desk barely looked up and she acted like our complaints were no big deal and stated and i quote" oh thats becuase it was put in that way" that was a real insult to our intelligence and that really made us angry. It was such a lame excuse. We were looking for an apology and perhaps maybe a deal on a better room later. if they want this to really be a romantic getaway, they should get larger jacquizzis, and get all new bathroom fixtures.
more care, less excuses.
i realize that there are other clean and romantic hotels that are considerably more expensive( $250 and up that have jacquizzis) but for 170 they could have afforded a brand new 10 dollar showerhead that actually worked ok and new knobs
I have been in plenty hotels that were alot cheaper than this with all working bathroom fixtures. So what good is spending 169 dollars for a room with a jacquizzi but a shower you cant use?!
The only reason im giving this a 3 out of 10 rating is because the room was clean and it had pretty good beds and the room came with a good breakfast/afternoon tea and cookies deal, Otherwise the hotel would have gotten a 1 out of 10. Be forewarned.
Beautiful, clean hotel with friendly staff. However, they would not turn on the heat, claiming it was 65o outside. It was more like 50o in room. Huge dog (Lab)in room next door barked all night both nights of our stay in hotel. Go when the...
The Inn and the room are attractive. However, we reserved the king size bed, with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi is a real turn-off. There aren't any safety strips and it is lacking handles to help you getting in and out. It felt so...

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years. It has ranged from very good, to just good depending on the time of year. Rooms are nice and clean, some have whirlpools and fireplaces. Breakfasts are just continental, and very understated. Be careful about booking during holiday events at nearby Longwood Gardens, it can be a mad house. One very important thing about this place is it's accessibility. The road it's off of is VERY busy and traffic travels way to fast. The turn in is not very visible from the road and you have to cross over at an angle. It's very difficult if not almost impossible to do under bad weather. We witnessed a terrible accident at the entrance to the hotel on one of our stays. It's easier to just go down the road a bit and turn around so you don't have to cross over and entrance is on the right side. All in all, hotel is nice and with careful planning a nice stay can be had.

Brandywine River Hotel is a perfect getaway. Even if you live close by, come here for a couple days to relax and clear your mind. Its sort of a country inn, with an English twist. They have very fine furnishings throughout the inn and the rooms...
