Reasonably priced, but you get what you pay for. I stayed there in June, 2006. The rooms NEED TO BE UPGRADED and new beds installed. It has an excellent location next to I-80. If you get an interior facing room, expect to be awakened at 8 a.m. with kids playing in the indoor pool. For $20.00 more per night, you can get a room facing outside, towards the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains. I ate at the Silver Screen Buffet once, and it was good, but nothing special. However, the 24-hour Sundance Cantina I found to have very good food, good-sized portions, and fair prices. The casino itself was undergoing some renovation at the time, but overall it was nice. Plenty of fun for the kids in the large arcade, and the aforementioned indoor pool. If you are on a budget, stay there Monday through Thursday, when the rooms are cheaper than Friday through Sunday. Customer service was hit or miss, depending on which employee you happened to get at the time. If they were in a bad mood, they'd take it out on you. If you lucked out you MIGHT get a nice employee, but only once in a while -- which is what happened to me. Overall, I'd give the place a 5 out of 10. Reasonable costs, an average hotel and casino, but below average overall customer service.
Reno's casinos can not compete with local Indian casinos. Boomtown Lobster Buffet has been discontinued. Unless you are up there for gambling or special sport events, there are nothing to do in Reno.

I had a wonderful time with my family at this hotel casino. I did not do much gambling, but I was able to spend time with my small child and enjoy the surrounding wilderness. The arcade was fun as was the rides that they have for the children. We even got to play a round of mini golf.
I am very likely
to return to the Boomtown Hotel & Casino.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

This particular hotel has been used on several occasions by my friend. When we arrived at the hotel, we realized that they no longer had bell hop service to take luggage to the room. We had to make a special request to get help. The hotel no longer offered room service for food. The restaurants in the hotel were quite expensive and the food wasn't that great. My friend had requested a suite, which we got. There was a problem with the lock on the door. It would not close.
I am not likely
to return to the Boomtown Hotel & Casino.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Our stay at the Boomtown Hotel and Casino was excellent. The employees were friendly and polite. They offered assistance upon request with grace. I am hoping that we can plan a return to the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.
We were greeted at the door by a courteous bellhop, shown where the front desk was and the clerk was very polite and efficient in his duty, and given complete directions to our room.

The location is outside of the center of Reno activity but convenient shuttle service is provided. Its a large, entertaining facility, enough for a few days stay. The staff is helpful, efficient, and friendly.
