51 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

stayed feb 3-10, 07 unit 24-d,

older units in good condition, large and comfortable, good value for for the money.. we traded in through RCI exchange and knowing the condition from reading reviews on TUG2.net expected somewhat older "feel". Very close to Sugar Mtn and not far from Beech and Hawksnest resorts.. indoor pool was nice and good hot tub.

Staff was pleasant and helpful but not over the top like a 5 star hotel.. location is close to shopping and eating areas as well.. We had a total of 7 people consisting of 4 adults and 3 kids with no problems with sleeping or space. Unit was 2 bed room with dbl size sleeper sofa down and twin sleeper sofa up in loft area.

Front entrance has nice tile area with bench and coat hanging area making coming in from snow a breeze.. wireless internet at office and some units close by with a desk computer for usage a well..

Have not been in summer, but in talking with staff the place have more activities inside and outside, and lots more people staying on site..

overall nice place to spend a week in my opinion.

38 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Property was very nice. 2 Bedrooms have loft, jacuzzi tub and gas fireplace. We were close enough to clubhouse to use our WiFi in our unit. However, had 2 horrible encounters with staff that will prevent us from returning. One staffer sounded irritated and put out when we had trouble with the fireplace and called to get some help. The last night we stayed, a security guard locked us in the pool area and then, through the glass when we alerted him to our presence just a minute after that, he indicated that we had to walk out the back of the building and around the side across an icy deck in a snow storm, in order to exit. He would not unlock the door. We expect basic customer service when we travel, despite working in five star establishments ourselves, and this was not even basic service, in fact the incident with the security guard was complete lack of service.

44 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed here in February 2006. Our unit was clean (recently redone) and the staff was excellent.

The pool is very nice with a beautiful view of Grandfather Mountain and Sugar Mountain. We will definitely return. WE had great access to skiing in Banner Elk and shopping in Blowing Rock/Boone area. Everyone visiting should vast the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. Banner Elk has wonderful restaurants, especially Sorrento's.

Worst resort ever. Oh, where to begin? We stayed at the Blue Ridge Village in Banner Elk. If any of my fellow timeshare people read this avoid this resort like the plague. This was easily, hands-down, the worst resort that either of us had ever stayed at. Our unit absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, even though the resort supposedly has a "no smoking in the units policy". Their "fix" for this was to spray "Febreeze" all over the place, which simply made the unit reek of smoke and chemicals. The carpet was filthy, the paint was pealing off the walls, the whirlpool in the master bath didn't work, we had a leak in the kitchen sink, and when they installed the dishwasher, they did it in such a way that you could only open the door about half-way before hitting the refrigerator. We tried to get another unit but were told that they were booked solid for the week. This turns out to be a bald-faced lie since most of the units (including entire buildings) remained vacant during the week. I've got pictures of entire parking lots empty and no lights on in any of the units. On top of our problems with the unit apparently they decided to wait until this week to start major construction projects. The children's playground was ripped up by a tractor during our stay and the office building (which also contained the pool) was having all of its windows replaced. There was construction gear all over the place. You literally had to run an obstacle course to get into the office. We have since written a complaint letter to the resort and received no response.

I am not likely to return to the Blue Ridge Village.
I would not recommend it to friends.
