Blue Marlin Motel Key West

I have been to the Blue Marlin twice now, and both times I found a spacious clean room (two doubles), a nice pool, and friendly service at a reasonable price. I would not expect a luxurious penthouse oceanview suite for 89 bucks a night, but I have seen a lot of dumps in Key West that charge like it is.

Perfect family vacation value.

It was cheap, near everything I wanted to be and the room was comfortable.

The bathroom needed some repair of the broken tiles, the place needed to be cleaner. The carpets and the beds were uncomfortable and the room was very small.

Laws do not apply to the staff here. I was charged for 1 night immediately after making reservations and since we were 5 people in the room (2 adults, 3 kids, Terry (hotel person) locked our room so we won't be able to get in, and didn't let us pack our things since we wanted to check out. We had to wait for maintenance (not a reasonable explanation) to get us back in so we can pack and leave. Only when I mentioned I'll get the cops, she called and tried to have maintenance arrive "faster." Still we wasted 30 minutes or so.

The hotel was as I expected for the price we paid. It was clean, with easy parking and a great location. We booked twelve rooms for a wedding party, but the staff was a little unorganized when we arrived. Also, I remember that the pool closed a little earlier than normal.
