I booked a room through Travelocity. At $62.00 per night, I feel like it was a good deal.
I don't know what Blue Cypress Hotel and Resort Travelocity has pictured on their site, but it isn't the Blue Cypress and Suites in Arlington, TX. For accurate pictures and description of the true hotel, check out their website at www.bluecypresshotel.us. The hotel looked deserted from the outside and nothing like the pictures we saw online.
We arrived at the hotel early around 1:30pm. The parking lot was practically empty, but we figured it was because of the time of day.
I walked up to the lobby entrance to find that the place was under construction. A man appeared from the dust and told me the place was being remodeled. (Yeah, no kidding? I hope I haven't been ripped off.) Then he asked if I had booked at the hotel, I said yes, and he said there was another entrance to take (no signs had been posted yet) and a make-shift reception on the second floor had been set up. His directions confused me so he lead the way.
Good news: They allowed early check-in and the receptionist would help me. So the man left me with the receptionist, an older lady who didn't seem to be totally familiar with what she was doing as she had trouble figuring out the credit card slip-jippy thing, I had to help her figure out where and how much to write in my charges for, and then she had no confirmation from Travelocity that I had paid, although she did have my name pre-printed on a list of expected guests??? She also told me she would have to charge $50.00 to my credit card for incidentals or damage deposit. I had never had this done at other hotels, but I figured they'd just charge me the balance at checkout.
Finally, we got to go to our non-smoking room on the 5th floor. It turned out to be at the end of a very long hallway after coming off the elevator. But the hallway looked nice and fresh and clean and the room was newly remodeled and beautiful and very clean and fresh. Flat screen tv, microwave, fridge, ironing board, blow dryer, coffee maker, marble counter tops, new everything - perfect! We found the beds to be so comfortable that we are now set on buying one for ourselves (Serta Perfect Sleeper - we stripped the bedding back to find out) and the bedding is a nice, white linen duvet - no cheesy, cheap polyester bedspread. Ahhh, perfect for the nap we took right then and there...until the receptionist came knocking on the door to tell us we needed to call Travelocity to help her get the reservation payment sorted out. Grrr.
Okay, so we left for our first night out at Six Flags - Friday night in late October turned out to be fantastic - cool weather and longest wait time was only about 8 minutes. Saturday, however isn't worth the time unless you've bought your flash pass. Anyway, when we got back to the hotel room, it smelled stale, like someone had smoked in our non-smoking room earlier, or there was someone smoking in an adjoining room and the horrible smell lasted until after I'd fallen asleep, but by morning it was gone. (I found the smoking culprit the next morning coming out of the door right next to mine, cigarette hanging off his lip and all.) So if you want non-smoking be sure to let them know you mean non-smoking above, next to and below you.
We also found that there was no hot water for showers! So if you book there, be sure to check your shower first thing so they can take care of it if they forgot to ahead of time.
We wandered into the recreation area for a while, which included a huge weight room with at least 70 different machines in there, a basketball court, a running track and an indoor, heated swimming pool. But it was a very lonely and echo-filled place with concrete floors and some dusty weight machines. We used the pool and brought our room towels down with us in case there weren't any pool towels made available, which turned out to be accurate foresight. A sign said showers were required before entering the pool, but the shower rooms were locked up.
At check-out I was given a hotel receipt, which showed their rates that Travelocity would be paying them (about $12.00 less than what Travelocity would be charging me) and I was told that the $50 charge I had been charged earlier would be voided that night. I had to ask him if I could get a void slip done now and he gladly printed one off for me but let me know it would not be processed until later that night.
All in all, my impression is that the hotel has huge potential to be a very grand place once renovations are complete and they are functioning bare bones right now as far as staff making sure all details are taken care of timely. But as long as you're a go-with-the-flow type person who doesn't mind a little confusion, this is a good hotel.

I have visited Blue Cypress hotel in November 15, 2008. This hotel is located between cowboy stadium and six flags. It has many facilities including gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pool. It has marvelous renovated new rooms and a good service by the hotel management. It has a very reasonable rate in city. The new management is uplifting the hotel with all their best efforts.

Was in Arlington for leisure and was definately pleased with the hotel. After checking into hotel, I changed into trunks and went to pool/wet area to relax. I immediately noticed the sauna in the changing room. I stripped off and went in. There were 2 other guys in there. We all sat around and talked until we got better aquainted and then we had a great time. I will definately stay at the Blue Cypress from now on.

Decided to take a trip for a little get-way to the MetroPlex. I live about 200 miles West of Arlington. I booked my room online, but when I arrived I still had to answer several questions and it took a while for us to get in a room. I was asked if I wanted a room that faced 6 Flags. I said yes and the kids were all excited only to get to the room and find that we could only see that spooky looking GM plant. Which while watching the news that night we learned that a missing Ft. Worth lady was last seen in the parking lot of her job, which was at the GM plant. I was told by Robert the front desk clerk that there would be a live band playing in the night club that also serves drinks in the hotel, breakfast would be served in the morning, the pool was heated, and we were getting a newly remodeled room...ALL OF THAT WAS A LIE...I think that I counted about 4 cars on the parking lot and one of them was my own. We were spooked and scared, there were people that seemed to just be hanging out on the basket ball court and game room. I never saw anyone other than the drunk front desk clerk. The pool was FREEZING COLD and there were dirty towels everywhere. I think someone had a food fight in our room...well I hope that was food that was brown, hard, and stuck to the walls. I called to the front desk and did not get an answer. Parts of the ceiling had fallen on the floor downstairs and no one cleaned it up. I was told to bear with them they are under new management and changes are coming soon BUT POINT BLANK- THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN... ASAP!

The first room that I was given did not even have a bed in it. I was moved from that room to another one on the sixth floor where the hallway reeked of Marijuana and who knows what else. The second room was not very clean, especially the bathroom. While in the bathroom I noticed that there was no soap or shampoo but I was too tired to worry about it at the time. The next morning I got up to shower and turned the water on and let it run for at least five minutes but it never got warm. I canceled my reservation for the next two nights and requested a refund. The front desk clerk advised me that I would have to speak to the manager directly and gave me a number to call him when he would be available in several hours. The manager stated to me that he had just installed a new, $20,000 boiler and that I should have waited up to ten minutes for hot water. He also did not seem concerned with the lack of soap or shampoo in the bathroom. The manager refused to give even a partial refund stating that he "would not refund one penny". Very poor customer service in my opinion.

This Hotel states it has been totally remodeled yet when i stayed in room 507 the counter under the sink fell on my bare feet causing me injury and puncture wounds. The entire atmosphere of this Hotel is low class, dirty and should be avoided.

--Stayed here Aug 8 -15, 2007. The hotel was pretty good for the price ($49/night). We stayed for a week. The location was ok since I was in town for the UT Arlington graduation and some light shopping (The Parks Mall very close by). The only problems I had were that the 'breakfast' was scant and the hallway had an awful odor. The room was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was surprisingly good for the price.

I wouldn't recommend it. I found a dead roach in the bathtub. They say they have a hottub, but they don't. The picture online looks like a really nice place, but in real it is old and musky smelling. The room was large and the bed was ok. They took up the free breakfast at 8:30 and turned out the lights in the eating area while I was getting juice. I thought that was rude. We did get a free shuttle to six flags but the driver never said a word to us. The Lady working at the bar was really nice. Over all it wasn't worth the money, but I'll know next time.
