The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The shared bath serves up to three rooms. Their breakfast is self-serve, with granola, cook your own waffles, etc. The location is not close to the Metro, but a frequent city bus is one block away, and taxi costs are not high to main sightseeing or government locations. The management is friendly and clientele is international, and generally well educated. The price is very reasonable for Washington. If you are allergic to cats, be aware that there are two on the premises.

I am very likely to return to the Bloomingdale Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Stay Away

Staying at this inn was a terrible experience. After traveling for several weeks and staying both in cheaper places, as well as upscale hotels, this one was the worst of all. It wasn't the cleanest, and we were certainly upset by the cats running around all over everything since I'm allergic (rubbing on furniture, kitchen counters where food is prepared, and dining tables, as well as in private rooms) but that wasn't our biggest complaint.

It was in what seemed like a questionable neighborhood in terms of safety (our taxi driver told us to be very careful) and had a very stuffy, cluttered, and unclean feeling. But the biggest problem was this: no one ever gave us a key to the front door, just our room. We didn't know what we needed, we figured we had everything. So when we returned from going out to dinner (after asking a very young, high school age concierge where to go, and that we were going, and getting no recommendations at all) we found ourselves locked out of the inn. There was no doorbell, no emergency phone number like all of the other b and b's we'd stayed in, nothing. Our taxi driver waited while we snuck through dark, creepy unsafe alleys to try to find our way back in. Luckily, I had left the back door unlocked while trying to get away from all the cat hair, and thought it might still be unlocked so we could get in. We finally did get in, thanks to that, but were thoroughly unnerved and disgusted that this substandard inn had locked us out for the night, with no way to reach anyone! We almost had to go to a hotel in town and leave our stuff there. In the morning we decided to ask for our money back.

We came face to face with the owner, who not only did not apologize for their inability to provide us with keys or a way in, but yelled at us for accidentally leaving the back door unlocked! And when I say yelled, I mean verbally abused us to the point where I would have called the police if I did not have a taxi waiting outside. He really screamed at us and did not take any responsibility for locking us out. We left and vowed to write reviews so that no one else ever has to go through that again!

Don't go there!

I am not likely to return to the Bloomingdale Inn.
I would not recommend it to friends.

This is a wonderful place to stay in DC! It is warm and inviting, slightly "off the beaten path", and yet steps away from all of the sights.

It was the perfect spot for my fiance' and I to get away and relax!

I am very likely to return to the Bloomingdale Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

WOW... If you want a Great Experience while in Washington DC; start your day at the Bloomingdale Inn.

The bedroom was large and comfortable. The internet connection was very handy. The large bathroom was clean. The spacious TV/Den area was comfortable. The parking was FREE and easy.

The Breakfast (Oh the BREAKFAST) was sumptuous and plentifully. Coffee and all kinds of tea available all day. Fresh Fruits, Large Bagels, Waffles, Jams, Milk and all kinds of Cereals all served with a smile from a staff that wants to be helpful and helping.

This 9 room B&B is run like a business, but feels like home. A great place to unwind from the hectic pace of Washington DC.

Located on 1st Street. Very close to downtown and near all the transportation routes.

We chose to come here (Bloomingdale Inn) after a horrible referral by HOTELS.COM to a lousy hotel where we chose to leave (did not stay there) where we did not feel safe. We (my business associate and I) called my wife who found this great B&B for us.

We will stay here again and wish to hear from you after your stay here. Email me at amid@autoaccents.com

Enjoy this great B&B in Washington DC.

I am very likely to return to the Bloomingdale Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

It was nice to be able to come to a place that was like home. Travel can be very stressful - even when it's fun, there are things left behind, despite every intention to bring them along.

Bloomingdale Inn seemed to have everything covered! I didn't have to run to the drug store for a thing I'd left behind. Granted, I did go out and get my preferred products, but I didn't have to go out -- less than what I felt was presentable.

The bed! It was the first time I had been able to sleep well away from home. I've never slept in a bed so comfortable, except at home!

Breakfast was amazing! Where do I start? Of course, I couldnt eat everything, so I tried something different each day. This place gives new meaning to the words "continental breakfast"

I am very likely to return to the Bloomingdale Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
