female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
My boyfriend and I just got back from spending 2 nights at the Blockade Runner over Labor Day weekend. We booked The Rendezvous Package that includes 2 nights, a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, breakfast both mornings, and dinner for 2 at East for their pre fix menu. I would recommend this package to any couple looking for a nice weekend together. It actually was cheaper when we booked than just the room rate would have been.
We stayed in a King room facing the intercoastal waterway. It was such a beautiful view. The room had a small table and two chairs facing the waterway and was a great place to relax. There wasn't a balcony but the windows open like a sliding glass door would. The hotel was very beautiful and well kept up. The staff was very helpful and polite.
We enjoyed lunch and drinks poolside. While the poolside menu was expensive for what it is you can't beat eating lunch and having drinks by the pool so close to the ocean. The lawn at the hotel was super nice and in the afternoons the staff had crouquet, frisbees, bocce ball, and other activities outside.
We rented beach chairs for the beach for $7.50 each for the day. Which was completely worth it for the comfortable chairs. Saturday night at dinner I wasn't expecting much but was blown away by my dinner. The hotel has a free shuttle that will take you anywhere on the island and pick up you anytime before 2 am. This made a trip to the bar to watch football very easy.
The only drawbacks are the old slow elevators and the service for breakfast one morning was pretty slow. The hotel was sold out for the weekend we were there but this was only evident 1 morning during breakfast. The breakfast was a hot buffet style with waitresses that brings drinks. My boyfriend and I were very impressed by the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

I stayed here in May for a wedding that took place at the hotel. This is an older hotel, about 45 years old. When we pulled up to the hotel, it didn't look like much, but once inside, it was very updated. My friend and I had an oceanfront room. The

This hotel is just gorgeous. The outside gardens and beautiful waterfal/fountain by the pools is very unique. The place is just overflowing with beautiful flowers everywhere. The breakfast served there is great too.
We stayed in off season so that was nice. The hotel seemed very unorganized. We were told two different ways the breakfast vouchers worked. The front desk didn't go out of their way to help or to every say sorry for any inconvenience about...
