You have to call the day you're arriving to let them know how late to hold the room. What about the credit card I reserved it with? The night cleark wouldn't take a traveler's check for payment because they were in the middle of dealing with an issue where someone had paid with a forged traveler's check. My husband spoke to the morning clerk who said they hadn't been told not to accept them. Apparently the night clerk didn't want to deal with it.
We had chocolate crumbs in our room, and what looked like white icing. It was on the floor and on the table, even dried on a postcard on the table. I took the postcard to the front desk when we were checking out. The clerk said we should have contacted them when we got in the night before. It was 1:30 am, and we'd been on the road 14 hours that day. We wanted to get to sleep. I asked why the room wasn't ready considering I'd booked it almost 2 weeks earlier. I asked if we could get a free lunch at the Big Texan Steak Ranch next door. She couldn't do that, but did give me a $10, plus tax refund. That was very acceptable, otherwise, I'd probably give it a rating of 4 or 5.
The room was cute; decorated western style. Instead of curtains, there were wooden shutters. We stayed in the rooms in the back part of the hotel. The front part of the hotel has a really cute "old timey" look. The food in the restaurant was delicious. They give huge portions, but it's also kind of expensive. Warning: the green peppers are very hot. I think they're probably for decoration.
It's a cute hotel, expecially for little kids, and even adults who are nostolgic.
