This is a great place to spend a Sunday. The food is great. There is indoor/outdoor seating, a jazz band and for the kid in all of us, Adirondack chairs in the river on the western edge of the picnic/lawn area.
Travelers, beware! Once you leave the Monterey Peninsula traveling south, gas prices are $2/gallon more than 'in town'.
I have not over-nighted here, since it's less than an hour from where I live. If you want 5 star accomodations, stop at Nepenthe, but expect to pay 5 star prices, as well.
However, if you're looking for a reasonably-priced place for breakfast/lunch/dinner where the kids can blow off steam, this is the place. There is a general store, several art/niche shops and a plunge.
Best bets for food--Annie's salad, the soup, portobello sandwiches and breakfast.
