49 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We made reservations more than a month prior to our stay and we confirmed them via phone twice before the reserved date, each time confirming that we had a non smoking room. When we checked in we were told they were overbooked and they had moved our reservation to their other property in Lake George. When we went to that hotel we were told we could not have a non smoking room because our reservation was moved. When inquiring why that was we were told we had no option and since we already knew the town was totally sold out we felt we had no option but to stay in a smoking room. The hotel we were moved to was a very old building and the room was not what we expected nor worth the price we had already paid. I sent this feedback to Best Western company when we returned but we have not had a response from them. That leaves me very dissatisfied.
I am not likely
to return to the Best Western of Lake George.
I would not recommend it to friends.

47 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
As a seasoned business traveler, I have spent as many as 150 nights in a single year in hotels around the world. My recent stay at the Best Western of Lake George was one of my worst experiences ever.
I booked a suite with the intention of a relaxing weekend with my wife and two small children. The suite was badly outdated, with dirty, worn carpeting and large sections of wallpaper peeling from the walls.
The real problem started at approximately 10:00 pm when a group of young people began to gather outside the suite adjoining mine. (The suites can be accessed directly from the parking area, without passing through security.)
The party was loud and continuous, with as many as 10 people at any time.
Three separate phone calls to the front desk did nothing to break up the gathering. At 12:00 am I was rudely told by the night manager that the party was "under control" and that there was nothing else that he could or would do. At 1:30 am, my wife and children and I were all awake and could not take anymore. I proceeded to load everything into my vehicle and went to the front desk to check out. When I insisted on a full refund of my money, I was told that would not be possible, but I could move to another nearby hotel, I told him he should feel free to move the offending party, that I would not be taking his offer of a different room. I left the property.
The next day I spoke to the general manager by phone, although he did refund the full price of the room, there was absolutely no apology offered for what my family went through. He felt that the offer to relocate was a very generous one, and he could not understand why I did not accept.
Bottom line, in my opinion this is not the family friendly property that they would like you to believe.
