Best Western University Inn Auburn Hotel - Page 1

First and foremost we did not end up staying at this hotel, thank God! We reserved a room for an Auburn game (War Eagle!) and we ended up not being able to make it, the room rate was $70/night and we ended up being charged $183. The staff was very hard to deal with and there is not a manager on duty on the weekends. We will never stay at a Best Western again! The cancellation policy for this hotel during game season was ridiculous; you have to cancel a month in advance, and some how they came up with an additional $113 charge...needless to say we decided to pay the $183 rather than deal with the incompetent staff!

Driving up to the hotel in the evening, it appeared deserted because of the darkness and neglected appearance. I thought it had closed-down and maybe changed locations. Driving around the side, we could tell it was still open. We were not notified until check-in (after driving many hours) that we could not have the non-smoking room we reserved - no flexibility offered and no discount offered for their blatant misrepresentation. We went to our room and found the mattress covered in loud, plastic pee-cover with moisture-absorbing pad underneath. The HBO channel wouldn't come in clearly and the staff would not come to the room.
