We only stayed for one night at this hotel, as we were only about 3 hours from home, and just in for the weekend to attend a wedding. Check in started at 3 PM, however the wedding was scheduled for 2 PM. We arrived at the hotel around noon, and planned to freshen up in a relative's room that was staying at this hotel also. But, just out of curiosity, I decided to check at the front desk to see if our room was available. The very nice, accomodating, and very pregnant front desk clerk said that it was, and allowed us to check in early. (Very nice! Earned bonus points!)
Once in our room, we were pleasantly surprised by the amneties. Microwave, fridge, iron and board, and a safe! We also noticed that a pair of wall-mounted lamps were just hanging on by a screw-one good shake and they would have come off! We also realized that there was no listing for the TV channels, and that once the TV was turned on, the channels listed didn't match what we were actually viewing (ie: "CBS" was actually Disney.) (This one was a wash-no bonus points.)
The indoor pool area looked nice, refreshing, and inviting. We were able to take advantage of the pool after the wedding reception. However, there were not enough available towels. And the hotel was so cold with the AC, that we had to "sneak" a towel out of the pool area, so as to keep our daughter wrapped up until we got back to our room. (Again, a wash.)
There was also a computer with internet access available for all guests to use, which was nice. It seemed in the way, though, and there was only one computer availabe, which wasn't so nice. The continental breakfast and coffee were only so-so, and could have been better. (Bonus point for the PC-most hotels only offer a hook-up in the room, then charge you to log on.)
Also, at one point, I tried calling information to get the number to call our hotel, and was told that the Best Western of Shippensburg didn't exist. I was connected once to the B.W. in Carlisle, and a 2nd time to the B.W. in Chambersburg, and neither was the correct location. Had me wondering if I could be charged for staying in a hotel that didn't exist? Would the room charge not exist either? Apparently not, as the charge has already gone through my account!
Overall, we would stay at this location again, and strongly consider other Best Western locations in the future.
