I thought it was perfectly fine. It was clean, friendly enough staff, pretty good continental breakfast. Short walk from the subway, didn't seem like a dangerous area. It was about a 35 minute ride to Penn Station, but staying out here was much cheaper. The bed wasn't very comfortable though.
We stayed here in order to be close to a wedding, close to the airport, and close to a subway for access into Manhattan. This hotel fulfilled all three.
60 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The room was clean and the location well suited for commuting to Manhattan by subway. The continental breakfast was good and the dinning area always busy.
It looked like a family owned establishment with plenty of support staff but their attention to detail was lacking across the board. Things I didn't like:
1. Requested a wakeup call the first morning but never received it.
2. Vending machine didn't work but no sign indicated such.
3. The ice bucket was never emptied and the in room coffee maker never cleaned when the room was refreshed.
4. One day they did not get to cleaning our room till 8:30 PM.
5. They say they have parking but only two parking spaces for guests. Meter parking on the street had a 2 hr. max.
6. A yellow cab from LaGuardia to the hotel ran $16 but when I requested the hotel call me a cab, I got a gypsy cab which cost $25 for the return trip.
Knowing that I was not staying at a five star hotel, I expected some short comings but the faults I listed above were unnecessary.

I needed a room for my daughter and I to attend the US Open at Flushing Meadows. After looking for days on Manhattan (assuming the area hotels would be booked) I tried a search for a local hotel using AAA. The reviews for most Manhattan hotels...

Horrible
Things were bad from the start. I had a reservation for 2 nights, they only had me down for one night. (We found another hotel for the second night.) Nice lobby, old, worn out carpeting in hallways, older stinky rooms. I guess the drunk gamblers...
