Staff was helpful but room sevice was subpar. Our room was not cleaned one night and we complained to the desk twice before they gave us new towels and changed our bed at 6:30 PM. Al told it was adequate except for the room service.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last week. We had a terrifc time and if I only had one word to describe my experience it would be AMAZING. The staff goes out of their way to accomodate any request you have. I travel quite often on bu

We traveled to Savannah, GA in April 2008 and stayed at the Promenade Hotel. The personnel were very courteous and helpful. The concierger was knowledgeabe and very pleasant and went out of her way to assist the guest. The room was very clean and the bathroom was large. The bathtowels were large and fluffy.
The price was very good and the hotel renovations were completed. The hotel is located in the Historic District, just a short walk to City Market and River Street. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Savannah. Savannah is a beautiful city and the Promanede was a great place to stay.
One small fault in the room - the chair for the desk did not slide under the desk and caused a problem if one was at the desk and the other person wanted to get by. The Hotel management said they were aware of this and going to rectify the problem.

The rooms have all been renovated and are clean and comfortable. There is exterior renovation going on - - until about 9 p.m. (jackhammers, banging, etc.). The hotel is on Bay St. (as is many of the high dollar hotels), which is the main drag, so be prepared for noise from the street all night long. If you're a light sleeper, this isn't the place for you. But it's a great location - - a short walk to everything. Parking is free (which is not the case at the other hotels.). The staff has been through all the constant complaining that goes along with staying open during a major renovation. They are ready for it to be over. As for breakfast, one morning there was no breakfast available at all; the second morning there were "to go" bags since the lobby was completely torn apart. Renovation is scheduled to be finished the end of March. If they keep their prices low and we bring earplugs, this is someplace we would consider staying again.

My husband and I found the Promenade via their website and were very excited to be staying there for some much needed time alone. When we got to the hotel, there were a bunch of frat boys (and their entourages) booking rooms. It took well over half an hour to check-in because their was only one person working the desk - on the weekend. We were aware that they were renovating, and were pleased with the looks of our room. Obviously we were the first to stay in the room, because there was a CONTRACTOR'S PUNCH LIST taped to the desk that had NOT been SIGNED OFF by the owner or the management. The television hadn't been programmed - and there were still tags on all the lamps. The room really wasn't ready for occupation, but we'd learn that later. To make a long story short - we had a SLEEPLESS NIGHT - due to a major party in the room above and next to ours (the frat boys) - the police had to intervene. Then, just as we're drifting back to sleep OUR BED COLLAPSED!! After the third phone call (at about 3am - before the bed collapsing) Tommy offered to lower our rate. When I went to check-out the LOBBY WAS FULL OF VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS. The manager on duty (unfortunately, I did not get her name) was combative and just plain nasty. She didn't honor Tommy's promise and according to her, he didn't mark it in the computer. She did have a list showing our complaints - there were 2 pages from that one night. She basically told a room full of customer's "TOO BAD".
The deluxe continental breakfast - a brown bag with an apple, kid size yogurt, mini orange juice and a mini-muffin. We would have been better off at a low budget hotel. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYBODY.

We had no problems checking in, we were given a renovated room, construction was going on all around but did not present a problem, the workers were very courteous; our heater did not work; my problem with this hotel is the proximity to Bay Street, the noise is loud and constant and with a light on this corner semis are braking, you get the picture. We had noisy frat and sorority students next door and after three calls the front office took care of it. The room was very nice , prices were low because of the renovation, but beware of the street noise if you have trouble sleeping!!

Stayed here for New Year's 2007-08 holiday. Desk staff is distracted, but concierge services were stellar. Renovations currently underway will improve ambiance, but not much. It's a motel-like property with rooms exiting to parking areas. Plumbing functioned marginally, at best. Parking for one vehicle only, others must use public facilities or be towed! Not clear on web site. Easy walking to River Walk sites, historic squares and monuments. If you're looking for romance, stay elsewhere.

We stayed here last year--the rooms are now totally redone--with marble countertops, flat screen TV's, new showers. Makes it worth the stay--be sure to ask for a renovated room, some are not completed yet.

They had our reservations all messed up. The night supervisor was not very helpful but the worker at the check in knew more and helped more. They did not get the rooms ready until two hours later at half past nine o'clock in the evening and we did not get the rooms we reserved. They were overbooked and it was obvious. The room we finally settled on had two double beds not the queen and king single we asked for. The same thing happened with our friends, but they were moved into the correct one the next day of a three day stay. We stayed where we were and we did not get what was reserved. There was a broken chair in the room and a very large oversized table that made it hard to negotiate around. The non smoking room smelt of cigarette smoke coming from the room above, probably from the air vent. It did not happen all the time. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good.
I am not likely
to return to the Best Western Promenade Hotel in the Historic District.
I would not recommend it to friends.
