This hotel was fomerly a Hampton Inn so I hoped that maybe some of HI's qualities would have been present in at least the atmosphere. Instead, I found the staff to be somewhat aloof, and the noise level intolerable. Because of its exterior halls and non-smoking policy, many guests would simply move the party outside including chairs, coolers, etc. And front desk staff would walk by and simply ignore the issue. In addition, there was trash everywhere and even pool furniture in the pool that had gotten blown there by the wind. The breakfast was lackluster in its menu prompting us to instead go to Macs (highly recommended). One last thing: housekeeping will walk right in to your room without even knocking and if they do knock, it's lightly with the edge of their master key cards.
Next time I visit the Southern Pines area, I will spend a little more on the brand new Hampton Inn.

This facility was unlike any others we have stayed at. It is not a typical Hampton Inn. This one is more like a very old Comfort Inn. It is a bad choice for Hampton to put their name.

The decor is elegant and subdued. When you walk in the lobby, there's a sort of hushed atmosphere that is very calming, so you feel relaxed right away. That carries over into the guestrooms.
