Rooms were not clean, carpet felt dirty, house cleaning did the least they possibly could, front desk staff completely unhelpful (evidently, it's a privilege to stay there).
But here's the good part: I made my reservation online through Best Western's website. When I made my reservation, there were limited rooms to book, but I got one that would work. I found out upon checking in that I was in a smoking room. The front desk clerk promptly told me this was not the hotel's fault and couldn't have cared less that I was unhappy. Anyway, I figured I made a mistake when I checked in, and thought, not smart. The hotel was booked, so I had to bear with it, thinking I did this to myself. When I got home, there was no indication in my confirmation email that I had checked into a smoking room.
When I called BW about it, the "customer care" rep told me it was my fault. Although there weren't any non-smoking rooms to choose from, as indicated by a non-smoking symbol by the room description, I should have not assumed that the room I booked was a non-smoking, although it didn't say it was a smoking room and that I shouldn't fault the hotel. I told him I wasn't faulting the hotel, I was faulting the online reservation system and that it should make smoking room reservations much more clearly indicated. Then it got good, he raised his voice to me and said it wasn't the online system's fault, that I had "screwed up" by making assumptions.
At that point, I told him we were done and hung up. Needless to say, if you don't have to, don't stay at this Best Western or any other, or at the very least, buyer beware.
