We do a fair amount of traveling, but I honestly cannot remember a cleaner hotel room, regardless of price. None of the usual telltale signs of a "cleaned at" room here. The sheets were perfectly white and actually smelled clean. (a light smell of bleach) No dust or crud in any corner of the mini-fridge or bathroom. No marred furniture or threadbare anything. On a night when the 53 room hotel was sold out or near capacity, our party occupied three rooms. In our search for a "cause" for the cleanliness, we called to see the hotel was new. Best Western reservation number reports this property built in 1986 and renovated in 2002. I called back twice to verify. Unbelievable!
The staff went out of their way to be courteous and gracious. Between the three families in our party, the staff seemed to know us before we ever arrived. Remembering details of how each family was related to the others. Check in and out were seamless and accompanied by pleasant conversation. The continental breakfast is typical of this type hotel.
The grounds are larger than a typical motel. They offer a park like area with gazebo, hammock, picnic tables, grill, and what I would call a porch swing. These amenities are not listed, but appear at a distance in pictures on their website. The attention to detail here is just phenomenal.
We traveled 15 miles out of our way to stay in Johnson City and are very glad we did.
For being "near" nothing, the price seemed a little steep until we arrived. If your final destination is Fredericksburg, I have no experience with their hotels (except that they sell out) and will stop just short of endorsing the 30 mile drive.
Personally, we would consider finding something to do in the area for an excuse to visit again. We have stayed in $400 a night hotels that were not this clean. Hospitality, I suppose, is subjective, but this staff made us feel like they had a personal interest in ensuring a pleasant visit.
