I travel to Castle Rock Colorado several times a year and had stayed at the Best Western before, it is a close location to the Douglas County Fairgrounds where I frequently show equine.
I arrived, having made a reservation, confirmation number in hand, right after 6 p.m. on a Saturday evening, only to be told that my room had been given away, even though I had a confirmation number. They had me on their list, but said that I hadn't given a credit card number (which I always give when asked for, did I do so? If they didn't ask for it, I think I probably would have offered, I really don't remember). The rude man behind the counter said that if you don't show by 4 p.m. and they don't have your credit card information on hand, they will give away your room. 4 p.m!
I remember making the reservation directly with that motel, not Best Western's general booking service. And I remember that even though I had stayed there three times before, they couldn't find my booking information in their records, even though my phone and address information has been the same for nine years. I also remember that check-in was very slow previously. So maybe they just have a problem with the front desk in general. I do know that when I told the rude man behind the counter that if he didn't do something to find me a room that I would be setting up in the lobby (I am a single woman who travels alone and thought a Best Western could be relied on if you have a booking confirmation number) he threatened to "call the authorities and have me removed".
You have other options at Castle Rock, Colorado. I have stayed at the Hampton Inn and and the Holiday Inn Express and was treated well, and check in was smooth and fast both places. Years ago I also stayed at a B and B downtown that was quite nice, I am sure there are more than one and that you could expect a good experience at a small establishment in this charming town.
