Very clean hotel and the beds are great, we stayed in a king size room non smoking. Heavenly. The only reason I gave a 9 instead of a 10 is that there is no elevator but it's only two story. I stay here every year for an annual convention and so far they get better and better every year. I stayed on the first floor this time and I slept wonderfully. No noise from the upper floor. The personnel are nice and very friendly. I recommend this hotel to any traveler.

The Best Western at Bakersfield (Hillhouse) is a very good hotel. It has a nice and clean swimming pool with relax seats. The rooms are spaceous, clean and pretty. It has a bath combinated with a shower. The staff is also very friendly and helpfull. And the breakfast in the morning is delicious and varied. It is really a must to try!

I stayed here February 29, 2008. While the lobby and receptionist at this hotel were nice and looked promising, this place is basically what would unkindly be referred to as a "dump" - the carpet - even tho' a basic brown industrial color - was disgusting - stains everywhere. The cabinet door under the sink had fallen off it's hinges and was just propped up against the wall. The chair and tables were substandard quality and the chair was stained. I had been told I could take my dog outside through the sliding glass door but it was painted shut and I could not open it. The bathroom was so poorly lit that it was depressing and the shower light flickered as tho' it wanted to commit suicide! This place gives Best Western a very bad name and I'll think twice before staying with this chain again.

The location was right down the street from the convention center. I like the bed and it was very quiet. The only thing I did not like was that there was not enough light over the sink area. It only had one little light. It needed more lighting around the whole entire mirror. I know that it only had two floors but it was very difficult for my roommate to get up the stairs with her luggage. She has bad knees.
The person at the front desk made us feel safe and I guess because we were on the second floor that too made us feel secure too.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Best Western Hill House.
I might recommend it to friends.
