Built in the style of the grand hotels of the west, the Grand Canyon Squire Inn is elegant yet inviting. Lush landscaping, fine artwork and genuine warmth create a destination you will want to return to. We found the rooms spacious and comfortable, but didn't want to spend much time in the room, even though it was air conditioned. We just wanted to spend the maximum time out enjoying the Grand Canyon park, and found the Squire Inn a great location on the South Rim from which to do so. In the resort there's a great outdoor pool with a jacuzzi, and a cafe, restaurant and lounge bar on site too, together with shops and a family fun centre for the kids.

The staff at check in was very nice. Hotel was clean. Room was large and beds were comfortable. However, after spending the day in the Grand Canyon and hiking, etc., one would expect to be able to take a shower using a WASH cloth. The cleaning service took 45 minutes to deliver 3 WASH cloths. My husband got tired of waiting and had to use a HAND towel. The very next day after more of the same hiking, etc., again NO WASH cloths. When I called for service, they did not know what a WASH cloth was. I had to explain that it was called a rag or face cloth or WASH cloth, you know, small, square & used along with soap to wash your body. Anyhow, it only took them 5 minutes on the phone to understand what I was talking about and 30 minutes to deliver the WASH cloths. (Service evidently is improving daily.) I was going to mention something at checkout to help the hotel for future guests, but the staff at the counter was so rude and dismissive, that I would never recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family. Even though the game room, bowling alley and bar downstairs were great, the service overshadowed the amenities. Too much hassle.

We never made it to the hotel. We had planned the trip for the North Rim, and had Googled "hotels close to North Rim of Grand Canyone", and it was listed 2nd. When we finally got to the Canyon that night, we discovered it was 5 hours away at the South Rim. Of course, it was too late to get a refund, so we had to eat the $250, and we found a room that fit the same description for $135. So i'm thinking it was overpriced. Of course, it was definitely overpriced for us because we never used it!!

Room was great as was the price, hotel has great facilities particularly being in an area where a lot of things close early, one of the best hotels we stayed in over our 4 week trip

Hotel has a convenient location and nice rooms in the main building, but
service was slow. We arrived a bit early, and had to wait over 2 hours before our room was ready. We stayed 3 nights, and each day our room wasn't
cleaned until after 3:00pm although we were out the door early. Hanging the "housekeeping please" sign on the door didn't help. They had a good continental breakfast and the two restaurants were good, though a bit overpriced.

When we went into our room, I immediately noticed hairs in the bathroom near the shower, on the toilet, and in the sink. This level of cleanliness was unacceptable to me, so I walked across the parking lot to the front desk where we had checked in. At that time, I also mentioned that the toilet wouldn't flush properly, so a maintenance worker was sent to the room to fix the problem. The associate at the front desk was kind enough to show me two other rooms, but I pointed out to him that they both had the same cleanliness issues. In good faith, I returned to my room and was about to go to bed since it was late. I saw a hair on the pillow, and as I pulled down the comforter, I saw - literally - a clump of hairs in between the blankets, too. I was in complete disbelief, so I took a wad of tissues and brought what I found to the associates at the front desk. They weren't very sympathetic and gave me their manager's card. When I took a shower, I noticed brown spots on the shower curtain, and I observed that the water pressure was terrible. The halls in the hotel were carpeted, and it seemed to me as if they hadn't been vacuumed in quite awhile. The furniture in the room was chipped, the upholstery was dirty, and the carpet was stained. It wasn't at all what I expected. The lobby was relatively nice, but it looked as if was undergoing renovations. In my opinion, it wasn't kept up as it should have been. The continental breakfast required vouchers that were given to us when we checked in. I browsed the selections on the first morning, and there were many rich choices. There was some fresh fruit, but it was already sliced, so it was impossible to grab anything and go. There wasn't any whole fruit, yogurt, granola bars, or cereal boxes. We were in town to hike the Grand Canyon, so we didn't want to waste time at a sit down breakfast. The room had a decent hair dryer, as well as a dispenser in the shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There was also lotion in a dispenser by the sink. There were plenty of tissues, but there weren't any q-tips. When we were checking out, I explained the cleanliness issues to the supervisor. She was much more sympathetic than the previous associates, and she compensated me accordingly. I was grateful that we only needed the hotel for sleeping since we were there to visit the Grand Canyon. The location of the hotel was very near the entrance of Grand Canyon National Park, which was one of its only positive attributes. I hope future guests at the hotel have better experiences, especially with the cleanliness of the rooms.

It is a nice hotel with good food. There was some construction and parking problems as there was not enough parking. They could not connect us to our friends room on the telephone and we tried several times.
