27 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I've been an extended stay business traveler for 5 years now, and I've never had as pleasant an experience as I did during my 6 weeks staying in this hotel.
Rooms are cozy and rustic. The entire feel of the hotel is a reason why I love Best Westerns. They all have some kind of feel to them, not just a bunch of generic models like most hotels. This one is old brick based, with minimal but sufficient lighting.
There was no bar or restaurant when I stayed here. It appeared to have shut down, but there was plenty of food and shopping within a 5 minute drive. This entire area of Richmond is fantastic. Like most cities in the DC/Baltimore/East Coast area, there are plenty of areas where you can end up being a chalk outline, but this isn't one of them.
I was lucky enough to stay right around christmas time, and the feeling of warmth and community, along with people's good old Virginia charm made it the best Christmas could possibly be while 400 miles from home.
The hotel rooms were clean, comfortable, rustic and roomy. (VERY roomy). I stayed for 6 weeks and never found a stain, or drip, or even a hair. WiFi was free, and reliable (Extended Stay America could learn something from that). Staff was courteous. Free and ample parking, and great free breakfast in the morning, by a fireplace, with a 50+ inch plasma TV showing the news and weather. You can't beat that.
