Best Western Dragon Gate Inn Motel

I stayed there June 14th, 2006 and I loved it. I'm a retired Amtrak employee & I travel all over the U.S.A. It was one of the nicest, cleanest rooms, they had very friendly people, and I am telling anyone who will listen. Stay there! It has a little Chinese shop, and a U.S. Post Office. AAA+

The Best Western Dragon Gate Inn is stationed in the midst of Chinatown, just north of downtown Los Angeles. You will probably notice the Asian-style gateway arch of the property first, which introduces arrivals to its parking lot. One passes through a courtyard with a few shops and a tiny post office before reaching the busy front desk area of the small lobby. The phone seems to be ringing all the time, so you may need a bit of patience while waiting to check in or out. The glass elevator requires a key card to operate it, which is a safety precaution. I was allowed to take a look at my room first before accepting it. Although it was a smoking room, it did not seem to reek of smoke so I accepted it. The spacious room was basically furnished, though the tiny balcony had a door that could not be opened. The large bed was comfortable enough and there was a round sitting table in the room. The sink was located separate from the toilet and shower, but still around the corner from the bed so it is not out in the open. The complimentary continental breakfast is a choice of a sweet roll and beverage from the mini-mart in the courtyard, so as long as you do not expect a lot this is fine and better than nothing.
