The Beresford Hotel is really good value considering it's location in the city. Union Square is 2 blocks away and everything is within walking distance. The room I was given was a little in the small side but was extremely clean and would serve the purpose of somewhere to sleep after a days sight seeing. The Beresford offers a complimentary breakfast each morning which is a nice touch and the staff go out of their way to be friendly. All in all I found this hotel to be perfect for people looking for a clean, fairly simple but great value hotel in the centre of the city.

Front desk check in is good in the afternoons (friendly staff), but when the shift changes to the morning, the clerk is curt. When I phoned there with questions prior to arriving, he told me to call back because they were too busy. The building is a converted apartment dwelling with the kitchens removed, probably built in the 30s or 40s. It smells sour and musty because it's so old. The room was clean. Nice continental breakfast in the mornings. It has an internet room if you need a computer. The location is good, as it's just a few blocks from the heart of the City--Union Square. Good shopping there!
