The Beresford Hotel is really good value considering it's location in the city. Union Square is 2 blocks away and everything is within walking distance. The room I was given was a little in the small side but was extremely clean and would serve the purpose of somewhere to sleep after a days sight seeing. The Beresford offers a complimentary breakfast each morning which is a nice touch and the staff go out of their way to be friendly. All in all I found this hotel to be perfect for people looking for a clean, fairly simple but great value hotel in the centre of the city.

The hotel is old with original moldings. It is very charming. The rooms are nicely done, not luxurious, but comfortable. The shower heads are wonderful. The hotel and the restaurant and bar staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant and the bar are convenient. I would recommend this hotel. The street and alley noises can be heard when the windows are open.
The staff welcomed us when we checked in. They informed us that if we forgot sundries they are available at the desk. They had hair driers available. They gave us information regarding other guests in our group. When they were busy we were still made to feel there was no hurry or problem.
I am very likely
to return to the Beresford Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Excellent
We have stayed at the Beresford for years! We have tried the niche boutique hotels and always come back to the Beresford for its comfort and welcome feeling. The convenience of hot coffee and breakfast in the lobby, wine and cheese in the...
It was all it said it would be. It was in the perfect area for us. Nice neighborhood with just the right amount of San Francisco edge. Very artsy, lots of galleries and fun places to eat. My son and I went to visit The Academy of Art University....

Located in the Union Square area, this is an older hotel with a certain creaky charm. The elevator is small and slow. The rooms are a bit worn and our bed was very saggy. The bathroom was larger than expected considering the coziness of the room. The room had enough room to walk comfortably around the bed but not much more.
We had a room on the top floor at the end of the hall so we were overlooking a street with a rather noisy Irish Bar. Since we were attending a wedding reception nearby we had a late night and the bar closed not too long after we got in.
There are numerous restaurants and cafes in the area within easy walking distance.
We had a drink in the lobby bar. The service was prompt and pleasant and they had an interesting wine selection. The restaurant looked interesting, but we didn't have a chance to try it.
Parking is an extra charge and valet parked if you go through the hotel. There is a parking garage around the corner but the valet parking cost is pretty reasonable.
There are better deals at this price in San Francisco. I'd keep looking before booking this hotel.
I've stayed at both of the Beresford Hotels in San Francisco on a few occasions, partly due to business as I was the insurance agent for the owners and I would stay there to meet with them on business. But, I also chose to stay over each time while ...
