If your looking for a modern hotel with designer bedrooms and prada toiletries then this really is not the hotel for you. However, if your looking for a good value, freindly and charming hotel in a convenient location then you need look no further. The Beresford Arms is located a couple of blocks from Union Square and is within walking distance to just about everywhere in San Francisco. It is in a listed building and, as such, the rooms are not the most modern or glamorous. Having said that though, I found a definate charm in the fact that all the rooms are slightly different from each other. This charm is also added to by the little touches you don''t find in the chain hotels, like the cheese and wine hour they serve every afternoon in the lobby.

Beresford Arms makes up for its interesting location with incredibly reasonable prices and very friendly staff. My parents stay here whenever they are in town and are always happy with their stay.

My boyfriend and I go to school in Santa Cruz, and one day, we decided we needed a break from the college life and spend a night in San Francisco. Being broke students, the pickings were slim, unless we wanted to stay in a run down motel in the...

Excellent
I recently took a trip to San Francisco--a combination visit to see an old friend who'd relocated jobs, and a guilty sneak cross-country to go to the Macworld Expo.
The hotels I'd started looking at seemed to either be quite pricey or ...
47 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
The location was convenient enough for the cost of the stay. I would stay there again when traveling through San Francisco.
The cost was very reasonable considering its proximity to Union Square and Market Street. Many amenities were close by including the Theatre District, Wakefield Mall and BART for transportation.
I am very likely
to return to the Beresford Arms Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Mediocre
This is a very old hotel. There is no air conditioning so we had to sleep with the windows open. Noise from the nearby firestation, and general city noise kept us awake,. not to mention the flies. Unusually warm temps (in the 70's and 80's) made...

The kids were enamored with the Murphy bed and we were all delighted with the 3 bay windows with padded window seats in our very spacious suite. One of the only hotels we found that could comfortably sleep 5-6 people in actual beds - no cots,...
